my husband and i have been ttc #1 ever since we found out i have PCOS about 2yrs now. at first the RE just had me on met. to try and control the hormones. we tried clomid for the last two months and nothing. they want me to do injectables this cycle. i know nothing about them. the doctor said they would call them in but didnt tell me what the name of them were or anything.
had anyone gotten pg with injectables, if so what did you take and how were the side effects? plz give me any info that you can.
Well, I didn't get pregnant yet with mine, but will hopefully with this IVF cycle. The ones I use are Follistim. There is also Gonal-F and a few others i'm not familiar with. The side effects were not near as bad as with Clomid for me personally. I felt a little hormonal (weepy, tired) and my tummy started to swell a bit towards the end, but symptoms were pretty minor. I actually saw my DR yesterday and he suggested that we try injectables next also. We are going to be using Bravelle. From what my dr said, the chances with injectables are about 2X that of Clomid. I am very hopeful that this will work for us as well. I will let you know when we start, maybe we can share our stories together.

hey girls, thanks for all the info. i started the follistim aq pen today. im taking 150iu the first three days and then 75iu for two days and then another sono. i'm really hoping it works. i'm pressed for time. i'll write more later
Im new bare with me. I started my second cycle of gonal f injectables last Mon. The first cycle I had three mature follies and one borderline follicle. The largest 20mm and smallest 14mm. I o with the HCG shot but did not get pg. Does anyone have a similiar story?
I don't have a similar story since my eggs like to release on their own at around 9mm so lets say i'm envious yours got to 20..LOL Just thought i'd give you a bump anyways.....
I used the canadian version of follistim (puregone) twice and both times got pregnant on the very first cycle...that after trying clomid letrozole and metformin or a combination thereof with no success...
the only time i felt any s/e was after the hcg trigger...the first time i used pregnyl and i felt a little achy but with profasi (the 2nd pregnancy) i thought i was hyperstimming...i felt like id done about 10000 situps my abs hurt so much!! Emotionally i cant say i felt anything but i was so used to being emotional anyway i guess i just thought it was normal!
I'll be doing my next round starting in november and i have no qualms whatsoever using the injections again...this time i have to have a cerclage also though...
and i use the pen also...thats so easy! The first time i felt like a junior chemist with all those vials and mixing and huge needles and syringes! :p I range between 75 and 150iu throughout the cycle, and 10000iu of profasi for the trigger.
So good luck all...i hear lots of success stories with the injections...

hey guys its been awhile. anyway i finished the follistem and i had 2 beatiful eggs at 19 and 20.5mm . we did the IUI last saturday morn. now i just wait the 2ww. i am also doing the progetrone suppositories. (yuck) just in case my level is low.

Just thought that I would let you all know where I was as well. I am currently on CD 10 and I go tomorrow for a follies scon. Hopefully they will be big enough that we can trigger. I REALLY don't want to trigger on sat (I know, bad of me to say that), because we are going to NYC to a Mets game. Anyhow, I am going to just wait till I see the dr tomorrow. Cross your fingers for me

Hey ladies, I figured i'd update also. I went in today for scans and had about 30 eggs around 14-22mm so I got to trigger tonight. I go in Sat for my retrieval so send some major babydust my way and i'll do the same! Keep me updated ladies....
any info on injectables plz
