hiya.am irish n new on dis ting. i was diagnosed with pcos at 15 and was put on dianette. i have to take a break from it now and i am worried that i will develop symptons i didnt have before as it was caught so early. like the excessive hair. i had symptons of this beginning slitly when i was diagnosed. i am rely worried. is there anything else that i could take instead of the dianette? also i have lost weight since first diagnosed and the doctor said this may cause my hormones to balance out.could this be true??no cysts showed up on my ultrasound but i was diagnosed on the raised male hormone, acne, slite hair growth and excessive weight. so glad to find this site!!

Hi girls,
i'm from ballinrobe in co. mayo..
i'm 19 since february. and been diagnosed with PCOS in june. been wating for my scan and an appointment with a dietician since then. i had my appointment with a dietician on 15th october, and getting my scan(renal+pelvic) done on 27th of october. pretty freaked out, dont know what to expect. i think i have PCOS ever since i started my periods, maybe even earlier (around 12yrs old), but i never was worried much worried about that there might be something wrong with me. my GP put me on Dianette in May, but i came off it in August, as i put on even more weight, and i just didnt feel well, even though it seemed to work on my symptoms(acne, excess hair). i never seemed worried about my fertility, as i had in mind not to have babies until i was atleast 25 lol, but now that i was diagnosed, i ca't stop worryng about it. everyday, i seem to get this urge to get pregnant and have a baby. is that normal?lol
i feel tired and lifeless most of the time, and very concious of the way i look. im just over 12st, i was nearly 14st at 16-17yrs of age. i've noticed that when i lost abit of weight i started getting my periods. but i hadn't had one ever since i came off the pill, and the pain in my ovary area is awful annoying. im trying to excercise and lose a tiny bit more, but it just aint working, any suggestions?

i hope all of you are well!xo

hi to yu!!im 19 also and have pcos.i was diagnosed at 15 and have been on dianette ever since after an appointment with an endocrinologist ...i cnt spell....in dublin. im now on my last pack of dianette before taking my first break from it ....n im so scared....as i was diagnosed yung enuf am afraid what symptons i will get after....mayb twice as worse as before.but i hope losing weight will have helped my cause.i was around 10 n hlf stine before startn dianette which is heavy for my height 5ft 1, and once on dianette i went up to 11 n hlf stone.while on dianette i tried weight watchers and sum excercise and im now 9stn 10.im much happier and fel alot better but im finding it hard to shift the fat in my lower abdomen. it seems from th research ive done that a low gi diet is essential to managing pcos as insulin levels are associated with the release of androgens. so im going to begin following this in the hope mt hormones may balance out a bit once i come off the dianette.........hope all goes well for yu.....so glad to find someone the same age as me who is going thru the same thing. it tends ta get lonely as sumbudy who hasnt got pcos rely doesnt appreciate what its like......

Hey lillooly90xx!
well im trying to exercise, but doesnt seem to be working. As for my diet, the dietician that I saw last week, told me that she thinks its pretty balanced, though I told her that I have a tendency to comfort eat, so what she told me was that I should try and replace that with something else, like going for a walk, etc.
I have a book on low GI diet, and the recipies in it just put you off completely, I personally only found one recepie thats actually nice, but maybe that's just me lol
what kind of excercise helped you lose weight, coz I would love to lose quite abit. Im exact same thing as you, when it comes to losing some of my belly, its so frustrating isnt!
I'm really freaked out about the scans theyre going to do next week, but i hope that all is well..
I know its relieving to know that theres somoeone just like you, going through the same thing.

Good luck darling!xo

Smile Just filling in :)

Hiya to you all.
Well finally had my ultrasounds done. that all went ok, apart from the fact that the doc who was doing it, couldn't find my left ovary. while my right ovary, didn't look anything like an ovary to me - it was like one bubble made of alot tiny little bubbles.(and there was definately more than 1o of these).
Now I'm waiting again. This time to see my gynaecologists again, to decide on what to do next.

Hope you're all well!xo
