Default Any luck going natural way after injects and IUI's failed?

DH and I have been TTC going on 11 months on meds. Almost 2 years total. We have done Femara and timed bd as well as femara, injects, with IUI I have Ovulated every cycle but all ended in BFN's! I have had an HCG and it was all clear and DH's SA was great.
So, why am I not getting pregnant????
I am thinking of taking a break from Dr's, and wondering if I go the more natural way with soy or vitex is there a possibility I will get pregant? Has anyone every gone though all the meds and it not work, but the more natural way did?

I am right there with you! We did 6 cycyles of Clomid, one with a trigger and IUI...BFN. I am now on my second cycle of injects (Follistim) and just had back to back IUIs. AF has started today...ugh! My HSG was all clear and DH's SA was perfect too. I am baffled!!!!!!

i can understand your frustration. all these needles in your stomach and your elbows and the dildo cams and waking up before sunrise, the insane amount of hope, then getting crushed. month after month. for nothing. i have to do meds because i don't ovulate on your own. if you do have regular cycles then maybe it would be helpful to be off meds for a while and not really think about if it's a good time to BD (i know, way easier said than done, i'm thinking about TTC stuff 10x a day). i've heard of lots of people getting bfp's after they stop trying. hang in there <3

I am No doctor, but I was in the same boat. I did a year of cycles with IUI's all BFN's, in fact for 2 cycles that lookied perfect I ended up getting AF 9 dpo!! I was crushed, so pissed off!!!

Then my RE decided he better do a hysteroscopy and lap. THANK GOD because he found a HUGE polyp in my uterus that would have been preventing any implantation. I was relived but mad at the waste of time, you know??

Did the surgery 1/9/09...induced af, and did follistim and IUI...BFP!!!! I miscarried at 7 weeks or so, but thats not the point....it was the first BFP, so of course I feel the surgery saved me.

I was crushed, took March, April, may off. June tried again...BFP, TWINS!!!! Sadly had a vainshing twin and then m/c the other at 9 weeks. Ughhh

I know that doesnt sound good, the m/c, but I feel the surgery helped since the HSg was normal and all looked well, only the lap/hys would have found the polyp and the teeny amount of endo ( miniscule).

I just wanted to share not scare you with the m/c, because so many others got pregnant after a lap and didnt m/c. Has your Re ever considered a lap just to see whats going on??

Also-theres a cyster who was losing infertility coverage....she didnt get pregnant on meds and her RE and numerous cycles. She did a cycle of soy, got pregnant and delivered her son in October!!! So...anything is possible, I truly believe it!!!

ALso-my friend at my work...goes to my RE office. She did maybe 10 IUI cycles, all BFN, even once with a ton of eggs and a 7 million post wash count, BFN. She was aggarvated and frustrated, so...she took a break to switch RE's. She got pregnant this summer NATURALLY(miracle-wasnt even trying, she was on vacation in fact) after trying naturally for 2 years and one year medicated with an RE. She is due in April, and her BABY GIRL is doing GREAT!!!

Everyone is different, but in my small experience, I have already learned so much from other stories!!

Good luck!!!

Sheera-- hey girl!! It's so funny that I found this from you because i've been wondering the same thing. DH and are considering trying soy for a couple of months during our ttc break (so technically it won't be a real break but still a break from the docs and the chaos)

anyways...I had started a thread on the pregnant boards before starting this last repronex cycle and a lady named melvinswifey responded that she had done injects and got BFN and then 2 cycles later she got her BFP using just soy & metformin and she just gave birth to a precious baby boy!!!

I'm hoping that this cycle isn't over for you yet!! Please let me know if you go the natural route!!

TTCTeacher~ Thanks for sharing. I actually dont really know if I O on my own or not. I never knew much about all this ttc stuff until I went to the dr. I have always had normal cycles about 34 days. I have read so many storys of getting BFP on breaks. My Luck pretty much sucks and I don't think that would ever ever happen to me. But, I guess no one really thinks that could happen. Thanks for the encouragement. The RE did mention if I didn't get pg in 6 months (so two more months of trying) to possibly do a lap. Wouldn't they be able to see a polyp on an u/s???

Christina~ Nice to see you here! Hopefully the soy works for you. I know I have used it twice before and I o'd both times. I think I am going to ask for Met. I am not IR but I guess its worth a shot. I am grasping at straws here, wanting anything that may help.

I'm having a sonohysterogram on Wednesday to look for polyps or fibroids. I wondered the same thing about my u/s which came up as clear. But the specialist I saw said that there are areas that can't be seen clearly wiht a regular u/s because the uterus is kind of like a deflated balloon, and it folds in on itself (not explaining this well...sorry). So they're going to inflate my uterus with saline and then get a better picture. A lap gives a better view of the uterus and can explore much more than an u/s.

I have had an HSG and everything looked good the dr said. He even kept telling me my uterus was big enough for twins.

Hrm. I wonder why he would suggest a lap then? Wouldn't an HSG have checked out your tubes, too? I guess if there aren't any clear cut reasons why you couldn't get pg in six months, then he'd want to do an exploratory lap to look for endo or anything that the HSG couldn't show him?

That's my guess at least. But I'm no doctor--I don't even play one on TV!

Regarding the [polyp-on an u/s and at my 2nd HSG he thought he saw something ( wish I could draw what he did) but when he went in-he was shocked he couldnt see it-it egan at the cervix and grew all thru the uterine cavity!!! So i guess going in is better...he showed me all the pics at the follow up and, well I couldnt understand them, but he said I couldnt have gotten pregnant with that in there it was so big!

I dont know if its an option, but I wanted to at least share!!! The surgery was easy, and totally worth it I think! esp. if theres some endo.....

And melvinswifey is the one I was talking about too-shes a major success story for me to always think of!!!

Thanks TTCTeacher! I think I will ask the dr about the Lap. From the u/s's and HSG he has always said everything looks great. But, maybe there is something hiding in there. I hope there isn't, but I would rather them go in a look around. How was the surgery. Were you in and out the same day?

Sheera - I know how you feel about trying and trying and always gettign bfns.

WIth my DS we tried for over a year and finally got pg on out own just to m/c, then my cycles went super long and I was dxed with pcos and put on met for 6mnths alone, that didn't work so then it was 6 mnths of clomid 5 with trigger and all bfn even though I had good follicles...I had to take a 3mnth break becasue DH was gone with the military, during that time I switched REs and as soon as he got back we started follisitm, I had 2 nice follicles the first rnd but got a BFN. THe next cycle he upped my dose and we got 3 good eggs, and that cycle I got my BFP.

We didn't go back on bcp after I had DS hoping it would happen naturually, but it didn't when DS was 1 we went back to the RE and started back on the follistim we did a round in oct, then 1 in nov..great responce bfn. Once again we where forced to take a break DH left end Nov...and was gone till Feb, we picked right back up in Feb with a new RE.

Feb - HSG, Clomid challenge, SA - O'd on the clomid but BFN
March - Follistim - Cancelled due to over responce
April - mnth of BCP
May - follisitm - IUI = BFN
June - mnth off due to RE's schedule
july/aug - follistim - good responce - BFN
sept - mnth off
oct - follisitm/menupor timed intercourse = BFP

It was a long road both times and as much as I hated my breaks they ended up beign good for me, I lost some weight and tried not to think about it to much.

Lots of Clomid BFN, 2rnds of follisitm = BFP. 5rnds of follistim = BFN1 rnd follistim and menupor = faint BFP 10dpo
