Question Any luck low carbing for cycles?

Has anyone had luck low carbing to help regulate your cycles? My only real PCOS symptom is no AF, and I am so tired of having to take Provera. I am considering low carbing to better control AF, but don't know if this will work for me. Thanks for any feedback! Charisse

Lightbulb YES

Hey Charisse,

The answer is yes.

I did accupuncture with chinese herbs to kick start my system, in conjunction with starting to low carb (actually more moderate carb or GI oriented). Three weeks into my new eating habits I O'd!
After that I started Oing every cycle, but I was Oing late in the cycle. I used Soy to bring O earlier. I don't anymore and I O every month around CD 13-16, which is just what the doctor ordered.
Anyway, firmly believe that the diet is the corner stone in my cycles, while all the rest were used for refinement.

HTH,
Oshrat

Yes

I started lowcarbing and I've just O'd on cd16, so if I'm not pg it will be my shortest cycle ever at 30 days. My previous cycles have been 70 days plus..

I'm not cutting out all carbs because I'm ttc, but I've cut out bread, pasta, sugar, cakes etc.. eating loads of vegetables and lots of fish, chicken.

More like increasing protein rather than low carb. About 45% protein, 55% carb (only good carbs)

Default tell me more!

I'm low carbing right now as well and hoping this helps. I didn't respond to clomid 50 mg last cycle (wasn't low carbing at the time). THis cycle I've been low carbing...I'm taking 100 mg clomid 4-8 and hope that the low carbing helps. My bloodwork shows testosterone at the higher end of normal (the total is 61) which isn't all that high compared with some other people. I wonder if that is related to the fact that prior to finding out about pcos, I didn't eat a ton of refined sugars (but definitely ate a lot of rice and pasta-but ONLY whole wheat pasta/brown rice). I wonder if I ate a ton of white stuff if my testost levels would have been a lot higher. So i'm hoping by just low carbing my body will become more sensitive to the clomid.
I recently had my first GTT (saturday) and am still waiting to hear the results. My doctor doubts I"m IR and I don't think he's a fan of gluc/met unless you are IR. I'm hoping by low carbing I can get some of the effects that met/gluc give you. I'd love to hear more about how long it took people to get their cycles back and whether they were able to find out if there was any change in their b/w results (lower androgens from lower insulin maybe?).
