Default Any other repeat miscarriers test positive for thyroid antibodies/hashimotos?

Hi ladies. Unfortunately, I've just suffered my third miscarriage. All 3 of them have been 7 months apart, all in the first trimester. I have a son who will turn 3 in May who I had a perfect pregnancy with, and now I can't seem to carry a baby. I went through the repeat pregnancy loss testing after my second loss and tested fine for everything. That is making this all the more frustrating. I have a consultation with my RE on Monday to go over what's next, and I've been trying to do a lot of research ahead of time. I keep seeing over and over that there is a link between thyroid antibodies/Hashimotos thyroiditis and repeat miscarriage, and that the miscarriage rate is MUCH higher for women who have this. I found that very disheartening since lucky me, I have Hashimotos thyroiditis. I'm already on synthroid to treat it, I'm not sure what my TSH is, but I've been reading that around 1.0 is the ideal level when TTC. I'm going to check into what my TSH is. I also found something interesting, that taking selenium supplements can actually reduce thyroid antibodies and therefore reduce the miscarriage rate. If you google it, you will find a wealth of information on this. I found that interesting and wanted to pass it along in case there is anyone else out there that this can help. Good luck to all of us, hopefully we will all get through these tough times and have a baby in our arms soon.

I'm so sorry for you losses. I have also suffered many m/cs and have hashimoto's. I remember how desperate and frustrated I felt after the 2nd m/c and my RE was like "well you do have a thyroid problem". I remember thinking no sh*t sherlock, but women with thyroid problems have babies all the time. After my 2nd chemical (3rd m/c) I finally convinced my RE to do a thrombosis panel. I have Factor V Leiden, compound hetero MTHFR and one of the antiphosphilipid levels (IgG) came back slightly out of the normal range. Are theses tests included in the recurrent loss panel? I'm being treated with lovenox for these conditions and everything seems to be going well so far with my current pregnancy. Oh, and I also have endo. I had lap surgery for it last August because my one tube was completely blocked and the other was partially blocked.
I have read about selenium and actaully bought some. It was right before I got diagnosed with the clotting disorders, so I figured I'de see if the surgery and lovenox treatment worked first and then I was going to try the selenium. I remember reading somewhere to take a certain kind that I was able to find at a natural foods type store. Another thing that prevented me from taking it was no-one really knew if it was safe to take during pregnancy. There really aren't any studies out there on it.
Anyway, good luck and I hope you are able to find some sort of answers and are able to complete your family.
