A very good friend of mine has been attuned to level 1....and she has created her own system for giving a treatment. She works on chakras first and then physical parts of the body. She is incredibly in tune/psychic.
She told me about some of my past lives, and I had flashes of some of them while she worked on me.
I don't think there's any right or wrong way to give reiki if it comes from a place of love. I think you can place your intent on chakras OR the physical body and it will work where it should. As for crystals....I'm VERY interested in them! I have heaps of them around my house. I would love to do some study on Crystal Therapy....it's on my list of 'things to do'

I did an Angel Intuitive course last year with Doreen Virtue. She touched on using crystals, but I think it is a modality in itself. It would mesh very nicely with reiki.
To all the cysters TTC - I am sending you lots of postive energy. I remember those days x 2 very clearly.

Thanks for that perspective Sapphire! I agree with you on intent. Not only that, we have the power to affect our body with our mind. I had bought chakra stones a couple years ago. They're more like tumbled stones, and weren't very effective at all it seemed. I just bought my first large specimen of rose quartz (I have some regular crystal & amethyst), and I am hooked on the beauty of them. I peruse a particular ebay seller often. The ones I fall head over heals in love with are the ones going for hundreds & thousands though!

I can't believe you went to a class with Doreen Virtue - she wrote a book on angels! It seems like you ladies out of the U.S. have more acceptance & availability of natural/alternative healers & subjects. I have a book called "Ask your Angels" that I bought a couple years ago. Ever since then I've been doing exactly that, but often times I forget about them, poor things. But I've had a few neat experiences & it is a great comfort. Of course, I keep all this stuff to myself, lest my family think I've really gone bonkers.

Wendy, I am a big fan of Doreen Virtue. I have nearly all of her books (she has written many). My favourite is called 'Archangels and Ascended Masters'. I also have many decks of her oracle cards. Doreen and many other healers RAVE about the energy in Australia.... She visits here nearly every year.

I have a beautiful big chunk of rose quartz beside my bed. I LOVE it! Remember to cleanse your crystals if you use them or have them out in your home. Cleansing re-energises them and rids them of old energy - old energy from other people and yourself.

In regards to telling people about your beliefs etc. I *was* the same as you, kept them to myself. Sometimes I still I if I feel I will get a negative reaction from someone - I don't need the negative stuff! Luckily I am surrounded by many like minded friends and my immediate family are accepting of me no matter what. One of my sister has similar interests which is nice too.
I have been working with Angels for years now. They were a GREAT comfort to me while TTC....especially #1. I had a couple of losses before being blessed with my son....I was comforted many times by several angels.

I am soooooooooo interested in the mind/body connection. Are you aware of Louise Hay? She wrote the book, 'Heal Your Life' amongst others. She was one of the first people to write about the connection between mind and body. If you haven't read any of her book I highly recommend them. I teach a course based on her work

. Caroline Myss is another author/speaker who in an expert in the mind/body connection. She is a medical intuitive and quite amazing. Keep a look out for her books too.

Amy, I also have small chunk of rose quartz on my desk. And some amethysts. I've always liked stones.

I also think that Reiki should be available to all. And I think charging too much with it is not right. But as someone mentioned, people have to make their living. My course was quite cheap (30EUR) compared to some other courses in this area.

The most amazing thing happened just now. When I started to read this thread and look through the new posts. I got to the 1st unread one where PollySis said that the Reiki 2 course for me will happen.

Well, the same moment I recieved an e-mail from my Reiki Master and she invited me to catch up with Reiki. We are going to go through everything we learned on level 1 course and do some treatments.

I believe that will be one step foward for me to find the level 2 teacher. Reiki just works. It simply does. This was again one great experience.

Sapphire: I hope I have it right - to cleanse crystals you rinse with cold water & put out in the sun? I keep forgetting to do that. Maybe that's why I didn't feel anything from the chakra stones. I never heard of Louise Hay, but the book sounds familiar. Another great book along those lines that I've read is "Life Shift", by Aleta St. James. She's a life coach, and had been down the road of infertility treatment, till she became a mother of twins through Donor Egg in her 50's. She's the sister of Kurtis Slewa (sp?) - of Guardian Angel fame. She went on a long spiritual journey in her quest to get pg naturally which she writes about a bit. Her book is filled with lots of visualizations too - it's mostly about the mind/body connection & shaking your life out of a run, and very little about infertility. I have to reread it. I never remember anything I read, unless it pertains to medical facts, lol. I just think my brain is overloaded with the IF stuff.

It's funny, but Angels give me more comfort than my religious beliefs. I do feel like G-d has let me down, which I don't like feeling that way. But I feel like my angels are always there.

Chakras is an Indian energy system, which somehow filtered into Reiki in the 80s. The Japanese system involves meridians - the energy centres are called hara. Energy, or 'ki' (as in Rei-ki) are stored in and radiate out from, the hara. Best explanation of this I've seen is in this book which really if you were only ever reading one book about Reiki, would be the one I'd recommend:

Reiki was much more stripped down, originally, with only head positions to learn then the body would be scanned, and the hands placed over wherever thge scan suggested they should go. Instinctive, in other words. So when it came to the West, Reiki was complicated by all the convoluted hand positions added, and the confusion of an Indian energy system with the Japanese one.

That's not to say that working on chakras won't work - it will. But it would not be reiki as Usui would recognise it.

Crystals are another 1980's new age addition, but have nothing to do with Reiki. Again, not to say they might not work for you, if you like them. I have problems with the way they are blasted out of the earth and the way child labour etc is used so it would give me too much of a bad vibe to use them! Not being judgemental on those who choose to - just they ain't for me.

So it sounds like Japanese Reiki came first? I have done chinese medicine/acu so understand meridians. That is the main reason I originally looked into Reiki, because I was told I have a Chi/Qi deficiency by my acu & oddly by two pyschics who told me the same based on my "aura", and was told Reiki could increase my Chi. I also later found out I have a clotting disorder, so western & eastern diagnosis match up!

The ebay seller I bought my crystal from lists where it came from - alot mined from the U.S. I did notice alot of chinese sellers, and I'm sure that's where some of the child labor risk comes in.
