Any Sistahs Out There in the DC Metro Area?? (DC/MD/VA)
Hey Cysters. I'm looking for Cysters in the DC Metro Area (DC/MD/VA). I would like to start a thread for Cysters in the area. I have been living with PCOS for 1.5 years. I have been in the DC Metro area for 2 years. I am looking forward to connecting with Cysters in the area.

my name is yarna and i live in baltimore. i have not been diagnosed with pcos but i have lived with many of the syptoms for about ten years now. my hubby and i are also trying to concieve. i am now on my fourth cycle of clomid at 100mg and i am trying to stay optimistic! my last three cycles of clomid ( two at 50mg and one at 100mg) were unsuccessful, and i did not ovulate. if this cycle is unsuccessful, i will begin seeing a reproductive endocrinologist. i am new to this site and in search of inspiration and people who know what i am going through. i am also a member of the pcos meet up group. due to my work schedule, i have only been able to make one event. i wish you the best and hope that you concieve soon!
lol! @ thin sistah. Hey Ladies. I am not currently trying to conceive, as I don't have a significant other . I am also a member of the PCOS meet up group. Because of my schedule I also have not been able to attend any of the events yet. I'm very interested in getting to know sistahs in the area. None of my friends or family have PCOS so its hard to find someone that can identify with the things I have to deal with on a daily basis. Since I was diagnosed with PCOS I've gained about 20lbs. I also have hirsutism. I hate the hairs, I wish they would just magically disappear. . I had a cyst removed recently and the good news is that the Dr. said that my ovaries didn't look polycystic. . I continue to try to work out, take my meds, and eat more organic/natural foods to maintain good health and lose weight. If I wasn't trying to save to buy a house my next step would definitely be LHR. I can't wait to get rid of these hairs! Thanks for stopping through ladies.

tiki, since u r thin, and not tryin to conceive, how did u get diagnosed? a lot of people don't find out until they r tryin to conceive. i know alot of doctors hesitate to diagnose thin people with pcos.

Hey Yarna. Well Ihavfaith is the thin sistah lol. I consider myself on the thick side lol. I just have a lot of hips and boobs. I was diagnosed because I was on birth control pills, which I never really like so I stopped taking them and realized my period came and never stopped. I was bleeding for almost a month until I got back on birth control. My gyn examined me and saw the little bubbles (cysts) on my ovary and asked if i shaved my face and diagnosed me. He said he really doesn't like the term PCOS because not all women have symptoms. I have the IR, the hirsutism, and the weight gain a little around the mid region (though I've lost most of that recently). I don't have thinning hair, depression, acne, no other symptoms really. When I recently had a cyst removed the surgeon(my gyn) said my ovaries looked fine, except for the right fallopian tube being stretched out from the Huge cyst being there. I LOVE children and would love to have some of my own some day so I'm hoping not to encounter any issues. I won't know til I try though.

I've had PCOS since my senior year of high school...stupid birth control pills!

yaya by the way yes I am a thin cyster. I basically diagnosed myself because I knew something was not normal about the way my body was functioning. I just got the dr to confirm what I already knew. All of my blook work came back normal, but I have all the pcos symptoms except the weight gain. I know that although I am a thin cyster I have to make better food choices and I think this will help with some of my symptoms..I have put off ttc because of school but im not preventing either becauce im not on any bcp...so keep me posted and hopefully one day we can all meet and share our stories..I hope that all of u ladies can achieve whatever goal u are trying to fulfill because pcos can be quite depressing but i refuse to let this thing get the best of me...ok im going on and on now..lol ttys

Ihavfaith We should all definitely get together at some point. I would be willing to travel to b-more if that's where everyone else is. Girl YES it can be depressing lol. I've been in good spirits for a while now since I've been losing weight . There's a meet up group for weight loss which started a 30 challenge to work out at least 4 days a week so I'm starting with that. I'm hoping I'll be able to stick with it. Going from working out 0 days to 4 days hopefully won't be too difficult. I plan on lifting weights and doing my biggest loser DVD. You're in grad school right? I'm currently studying to become a Certified Fraud Examiner, first step toward CPA. Men have been on my bad side lately so I'm not seeing anyone which really is helping with getting a lot of studying done.

would you ladies be interested in having a get together? i am a member of the pcos meetup group but due to their event schedule, i am never able to attend!!! they usually meet up the first sat of the month at 1:30, and i'm always at work!!! i'm off 05/23(sat) and 05/24(sun), are any of you off that weekend? If so, maybe we could get together and do dinner or something. i'm open to suggestions, let me know!!!

yaya....the weekend of the 23rd is perfect I am giving my bestfriend a baby shower on the 23rd but the 24th is great...also during the wk is fine with me too in the evening. I am so excited because I only talk to one of my girlfriends about pcos and I think that she thinks that I am crazy! lmbo
