Question any success w/ a epilator?

hi ladies! I was thinking of getting a epilator but was wondering if it makes hair grow back thicker? Also does it cause any irritation or anything like that? Thank you so much! *hugs*

hi i got an epilator as a christmas present last year.they are quite good,id say its similar to waxing as in roughly the same discomfort but it lasts longer than other methods eg shaving hair removing cream etc. my hair comes back in the same as it would look if i waxed it tho i keep it for smaller areas as it would take too long to do my legs lol.the only problem i have is that i usually end up with a few scabs but thats due to me not having the right technique i think
good luck

Hey, I use an epilator on my legs, it takes me about 10 minutes to do each leg but the results last for a few weeks. Iget little red dots for about half an hour after but I use tea trea lotion on them straight after epilating which sooths them.

That is exactly what I was going to say Just be sure to get a good one, not a cheap one! I originally had a cheaper Emjoi and it was pretty bad. Later I got a high-end Emjoi and I love it!

thanks for responding ladies! I just baught a epilator tonight but I think I am going to take it back and look to see if there are better ones either at Ulta 3 or on ebay. I was at the mall and baught the only one I could find, the remington smootha and silky, does anyone have this one and like it? It was about $55. I dont know if its the kind that can chop off even the super short hairs but I doubt it. Thats the kind I want! If anyone can tell me what kind of one I should look for that would be great! I also got the one touch home electrolysis kit thingy and was wondering if anyone has had any good experiences w/ that too....THank you girls! love, whitney

I love my epilator! Its amazing. I've had so much success with my legs and my underarms - I'm so proud of them now, it used to be that my hairs were so dark I'd always have a shadow and even after epilating only 2 or 3 times I've found I no longer have a shadow!
I started on my bikini line the other night - very slow but steady progress!
I find its better than waxing as I feel like I have more control over the pain and its more effective as there are no stray hairs, personally I dont have to have such long hair to epilate as I do to wax, but maybe that is just my epilator, im not sure?

Try the Braun Silk-Epil, or Epilady. I have had both, and I totally loved them. Currently I have the Braun...

This may be a stupid question but I've never used an epilator before... can you use it on your chin/neck?

Wow, I'm so surprised people LIKE epilators! I have an epilady, and I use it when I have to, but I hate it. I like waxing so much better. I bought really crappy wax stripps this last time (never get sally hanson wax strips... useless!), and I had to finish with the epilady. Better than JUST using the epilady, but OUCH. Waxing is quicker and doesn't hurt as muc IMO. I don't think either hurt as bad as shaving, though (my skin is VERY sensitive). I also get little bumps that go away in just an hour or so (with the epilady... a little longer with waxing). I don't know if you can use them on your face... I'm pretty sure mine (the epilady) said to only use it on the arms or legs, but I might be mistaken about that.

I use an epilator on the sides of my face but not the softer area below my jaw line. When I did I broke out really badly.

WOW! they never grew back! that is awsome! Ya I baught the new braun one off ebay the other day and cant wait to get it! a bit pricey though. It is really pretty too, its like sparkley aqua color. I also have been experimenting w/ this one touch at home electrolysis thingy.... It is kinda crazy and takes extreme caution while using it, but I think it might be working. I will wait and see if the hairs grow back. Has anyone tried this as well? Thanks girls!

The original Epilady was pure torture. TORTURE.

With the newer Braun, the first time you use it you WILL feel some discomfort, but to me, it's tolerable. The Epilady, on the other hand, literally made me cry.

After you use it 2 or 3 times in the same area, it doesn't even 'smart'. You still feel it, but I wouldn't even call it 'discomfort'.

Whitney - yep, there are a few areas on my lower legs that never grew back (from when I was regularly epilating...). The other good thing about epilators is that the hair that DOES grow back grows back finer over time.

You can probably slow down the regrowth even more by getting one of those lotions that slows hair growth ( from the drugstore).
