Default Any Suggestions?

Hey there!

Great site this is! I just discovered it and must say I have learned tremendously already. I am 23 years old, 6 feet tall and and 138.6 lbs, which would clearly qualify me as a 'thin cyster'. I have not menstruated independently (i.e. without taking birth control (=diane)) since 19. I suffer from acne, mood swings, no hair loss. Docters in my country do not seem to take me seriously. They just want to give me diane, but I just dont want to take that anymore, since I have the feeling it causes my depressions/ mood swings. I would just love to menstruate (sounds stupid I know) and be normal. Recently I have learned (on this site) that eating less bread etcetera may help me. I do that now for some weeks, already feel better. Are there any more suggestions you could give me? I have heard rumours about 'meths' what is this? Sorry for being such a nitwit, could you please help me out?

I'm guessing your are talking about Met or Metformin. It does help a lot of women with PCOS but it must be prescribed by your doctor. A low carb/good carb diet and exercise is also helpful. You can probably learn more about it from the diet and exercise board. Your goal isn't to lose weight (although you may anyway... I did and didn't need to) but to just be healthier. I followed a Atkins type diet but I think there may be better ones out there. The main gist though is that you want to limit your refined sugars and eat more protein and whole grains. Good luck!

Hi, im sorry about Dr's not taking you serious, I know that its hard with this condition though, if you are not having any period it may be that you could be too thin , when i was really really thin my periods were less and less, and i had to be on the pill to have a tiny bleed. I gauned weight very easily though, lol. for me i was dieting to get very thin, i didnt know it would cause problems . anyhow i would reccomend a healthy low carb diet with fatty fish, like salmon and macarell . also once you start eating less refined white flour carbs and sugar your acne should lessen. stay awaying from sugary foods really helps.
