Default any suggestions for me?

HI ladies!!

I have a question for you all...

I will be going for my final consultation with a NEW RE that i never met before (long story, but my RE left the practice upruptly and i now have to see the replacement) Basically, i dont know what to expect...We will be discussing treatment options, and I want to try Metformin. DH is really nervous about me asking the RE what i want to try, so I was wondering if any of you ladies had any suggestions on how I could bring it up that i want to try metformin without insulting this doctors intelligence or getting her mad at me...I would just rather try something like met first, before trying clomid again (by itself) or injectables right away. Any suggestions would be helpful!!! TIA

hi i think what you just said would be perfect!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if he doesnt mention glucphage/met..... perhaps just saying

"this makes me nervous because you are the doctor, but i was hoping you would be willing to let me try glucophage/metformin for a while..and see how that affects my hormones, before trying clomid."

that way if he is a decent doctor... he wont take offense like some not so good doctor...and instead of telling him you are asking him... seems like docs like it when we pretend we are meek...sigh.

i think you are so on the right path and met/gluc not only helps ovulation..but also seems to support the pregnancyand reduce m/cs.
goodl luck xoxo jenn

A lot of cysters who use clomid, injectables, etc. alone don't have success but have success with them combined with metformin. It is something the doctor should already know, but you could throw that in.

I think metformin is worth a try for almost all of us. It has changed many lives around here! If you are not able to get a prescription, you could try low carb dieting and lots of exercise to have a similar effect. Supplements such as chromium also sensitize the body to insulin and so bring our levels down. These are just options.

Best wishes, and don't be too shy!

One thing that has always given me the 'courage' to suggest or even challenge my doctors has been to go to the appointment armed with facts. There are some good stickies here that are full of facts and reasons why Met/gluc is a great way to go for many of us and you could probably print them out. I also write my thoughts down on paper because it never fails that I'm so intent on listening to the doctor that the appointment is over before I've had a chance to address my concerns. When he sees a paper in my hand he knows that I have some questions or issues.
I wish you luck!
