Default Any suggestions for really bad razor burn?

I used my husband's electric razor yesterday on my bikini line and got horrible razor burn. Not just bumps (although I do have them) but large areas of red, burnt skin. I thought electric razors were supposed to be easier on your skin. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had a solution. We're going out for our anniversary tomorrow and I'd rather not be a burnt mess!

There are a few points here. Yes, some men's-type electric razors can be the most gentle way of shaving but keep in mind

* there's a big difference between men's-type electric razors and those designed "for women." Men's-type electric razors are designed to cut very short stubble -- no longer than 1/16". Anything longer than that and the razor will choke and tug and make a real mess. So before using a men's-type electric razor on your bikini line you'd really need to trim the hair pretty well to skin level before shaving it.

* Some men's-type electric razors are less irritant than others -- it's generally acknowledged that the Philps Norelco men's models with rotary heads are the least irritant.

* Your skin is likely to take up to six weeks to get used to any new method of shaving.

* I'm not sure how much you shaved, but if you came right down to the labia that skin can be very sensitive.

Men's-style electric razors are great for the thing they were designed to do -- which is removing coarse, bristly stubble from the face. So for those of us who have the sort of moustache or beard growth that men have, they're fantastic. But they're not necessarily the answer to every hair removal problem and they're a disaster with long hair and not great with fine, soft hair unless it's very short indeed.

bikini zone is fabulous for treating razor burn, it will also prevent razor burn. It works very well. Give it a whirl.
