Hi, Just wondering if any of you thin cysters have hypothyroidism? It looks as if I may be developing it, and I am wondering if anyone has had to take the meds, and if so did it help with fatigue, etc?? and did you have any weight loss with meds?
thanks
Baci- If you suspect you have hypothyroisism, check out the following website http://thyroid.about.com/library/weekly/aa042100a.htm and have your doctor run a bloodtest to find out your TSH and T3 and T4 levels. Besides making you feel like crud all the time, it can cause miscarriages and birth defects (a problem if you are trying to conceive)
I am 5'3" and weigh 110 - 120 (it fluctuates a lot) I have been on synthroid for three months with a recent increase fom 50 mcg to 75 mcg. While I have not experienced a weight loss, I do feel much better. I am a lot less depressed and have the feeling of wanting to do nothing a lot less. The brain fog is still a problem, though. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail me at mtolley@cfl.rr.com.
Let me know how it goes--good luck!

I was diagnosed last year with hypothyroidism (mild--TSH was 9.9). Unfortunately, it was difficult to convince anyone to test me, even though I had some classic symptoms (cold all the time, hair falling out, tired, brain-fog, low bbt). Everyone kept saying "You're too thin to have hypothyroidism." (I'm 5'7" 110 lbs.) So obviously, weight gain is not a definite sign as I never had that.
I started on 100 mcg of Levoxyl and was bumped down to 88 mcg several months later. So far, I'm holding steady!
Like Missy, I feel great now. It made all the difference in the world. If you suspect it, keep pressing until someone will test you.
I'm hypothyroid. I'm not sure I qualify as 'thin' perse, but I'm definitely within the normal range (140 lbs and 5'6").
I've been hypothyroid since I was 12 (I wasn't overweight then either). It definitely helps with my energy levels and my tendency to be depressed. My mom has hypothyroidism, too, and I can see the same results for her, too.
Definitely get tested!!

I was just diagnosed with a mild case. My TSH was normal but my T4 was borderline low. My endo put me on 50 mcg of Synthroid. I don't really feel any different but I do know I O'd for the first time in 4 months. I don't know if that was from the Synthroid, the natural remedies I've been trying, or both.

Yes, I am hypothyroid. Went to my gynaec for irregular periods and fatigue and was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in end 2000. I have been on thyroid hormone supplement since. It did help with fatigue and intially also helped regularise my cycles. But later the irregularity in periods started again and then on further checking, I was diagnosed with PCOS.
Weight loss .... hardly any with thyroxin ... but a few pounds on Met, yes. My max weight during the peak PCOS period was 149 pounds (I'm 5 ft 6"). Now, after 4 months of Met, I'm down to 143 Pounds. Wouldn't mind losing a few more Pounds but I'm technically not overweight. Thats one of the reasons my gyn refuses to increase my Met dosage. I take only 500 mg a day
