*Currently fighting to stay off antidepressants...in desperate need of prayer*
I used to have the flatest stomach on the planet that I was so proud of. But my pride has vanished since starting on all these meds. The meds have created a nice little pooch just for me.
My oh so sensitive friends call it "skinny fat". An example is Christina Agulara. So skinny but a big pooch. WHO just happens to be pregnant right now and has been seen visiting fertility specialists. A celebrity thin-PCOS'er?
My doctor friends tell me that it is a lot of fluid retention with a combination of constipation. But, it could just all be fat.
Yeah, nothing has ever worked for me. When Im standing, my stomach looks sooo flat. But when I sit, its like mush. Im over it now...my husband doesn't care, Ive resolved myself to it now :-)
Prior to becoming PG, I didn't have a pooch...now I do.
I'm a constant "sucker-iner" so I don't know if that had anything to do with it or not. I also was on the pill for 10 years (and it controlled a lot of PCOS symptoms) so that may have helped the situation too.
But I do have love handles and saddle bags that won't go away for anything...anyone have any advice on getting those to go away?

Reason: Forgot something
I don't have a pooch, really I've always had pretty good abs & haven't ever really done much for that. I do yoga & cardio, but I just eat a regular diet (pretty healthy, rarely eat fried foods, but don't watch carbs or anything like that).
I just recently gained this pooch within the past couple years. Until 2 or 3 years ago, I was 5'7" and 115 lbs. It was ridiculous. When I pudged out my stomach as far as possible, it was still flat as a board. No one would believe me that I was trying my hardest!
But I definitely have it now, and I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that I always will. Sometimes I can look quite pregnant and that feels disgusting. I basically just suck it in all day long (that's part of good posture anyway), and I'll probably buy spanx or something pretty soon because it's getting harder and harder to hide/deal with/suck in

I'm just starting to get one. I was also on BCP for years which controlled my symptoms. Now that I've been off for a while all the PCOS symptoms are appearing, I guess including the pooch. I stand with good posture (therefore my belly is sucked in) so nothing shows then, but when I sit I have a bit of a belly. I like to think of it as my organs needing somewhere to go when my torso is smushed together
Anyone have a similar situation where signs starting showing after BCP? I'm worried that it was the pill keeping away the overweightness many PCOSers suffer with and that I'm going to balloon any day now! (Just like my overnight belly hair )

I don't know if it's after BCP or after being PG, but I do feel being on BCP really controlled a lot for me. I tried switching pills several times. I always gained weight. So, I was on the same pill (more or less) for 10 years. Right after I was dx with PCOS, they changed my pill and put me on spirolactinone (sp) and I gained 30 lbs in 6 months. Yikes. Went back to my old pill and weened myself off the spir. and went back down to my normal weight (with exercise of course - but I was exercising a lot when I gained the 30lbs too!).
HATE the belly hair - I'm thinking about laser hair removal for it. That's something I'm really self consicious about - even more so now that they shaved my WHOLE belly (why or why) when I had an emergency c-section.
Why are you guys considering your pooch if you have one to PCOS? If you are overweight and gain that weight in the abdomen mainly then I would say it is the "trademark" PCOS thing, but MOST women, PCOS or not have the trouble spot as the tummy and/or saddlebags area. It probably isn't meant to be flat, but we beat ourselves up about it. My tummy has a little curve to it, not totally flat. But I just had a baby 8 months ago, and my tummy will probably never be flat. I could care less though. It looks normal to me. I think we tend to judge ourselves off of stars and models and they are not normal. Maybe I don't understand what a pooch is. Like a big huge gut/beer belly, or just a little "curve" natural looking tummy?
actually, i lost five pounds and mine is gone ? It was bad too.
I think its mostly my genetics. I get my shape from my mexican grandmother. Think J.Lo. Decent abs but proportionally weird butt and thighs. A pooch is easier to hide than a weird butt, but im making the best of what i've got . Pilates helped tone me up too .
My mom is a thin cyster, and she didn't get her pooch until she hit her forties. It s like a really itty bitty beer gut and it looks weird on her small frame. She carries it well though and is still amazingly gorgeous.
Most women have pooches anyways! Its how our bodies were designed! Very few women have "abs". On my track and xc team, where the women work out extremely hard , the abs are still a minority...
focus on being healthy and you're body will look the way it is designed to. and that will be beautiful.

meds: yasmin. prozac 20mg.
four months of lupron. its not as bad as everyone says.
diet: strict vegetarian. eat organic as much as possible. avoid dairy. unsuccessfully try to avoid carbs.
I didn't get my pooch until I stopped BCP. I used to have a very flat stomach with serious muscle tone - I was actually very proud of it because it off-set my J'Lo booty But now, no matter what I do, I have the pooch. I think it is my ovaries swelling up and full of cysts that didn't happen when they were dormant for 8 yrs while I was on the pill.
Will the ovaries ever shrink back down once I am back on the pill or on metformin? Or am I screwed for life?
