I recently went from being Hyperthyroid to Hypothyroid.....when i was Hyper i was on Tapazole and i would have a period every 32-46 days..well since i now went over to being Hypothyroid im 48days late on AF which i just started taking Metformin 2 weeks ago as well..........so my question is any of you hypothyroid ladies ever have AF on your own or did it cause you to skip months? im not on synthyroid because my Endo said she wasn't gonna put me on any unless i gained 10 lbs...........so right now im only taking Metformin 1500 mg and Nexium 40 mg...........answers would be greatly appreciated...Have a Blessed day!!!
Oh yeah I had major problems with my periods until my meds got regulated, and I lost some weight, I am fighting that problem again. and I would go 60 days sometimes before having a period, its not unusually at all, If you start going longer than 3 months without a period that is a problem, then you need to go see the dr. I hope they get you regulated soon!!

I wouldn't wait too long as it also makes me depressed, and I have horrible mood swings, MY dh says I am almost unbearable to live with, plus I get cold, and my hair starts falling out. Don't let them wait too long and if they won't help you please please find someone who will.

HI Jen
and No I never had any side effects from the medicine, and I don't really have any suggestions other than take your meds on an empty stomach don't eat for an hour afterwards and get your blood checked every 6 weeks until you are feeling normal.
Oh and Twilight, I forgot to add that my heartbeat gets irregular when I am not taking enough medication, I get palpatations, that feel like a skipped heartbeat have had that my whole life and the stupid drs couldn't figure it out that I had Thyroid disease, how about that.
I wish you both very much luck on your journey to health!!!

Hi! Just wanted to add that if you are put on meds for hypo, and they make you feel too sick to your stomach, it is OK to take them initially with food until your body becomes adjusted to them. Taking them on an empty stomach maximizes the amount your body absorbs, but can have the ever-so-pleasant side effect of making you nauseated.
I felt like h*ll when I started them and my doc said that she would rather that I take them with food and get some of the meds in my system, than taking them on an empty stomach, throwing them up, and getting NONE of them in my system.
After about 2 weeks, I braved taking them on an empty stomach again, and didn't get sick.
HTH,
Ann
