Default Any of you PCOSers have Diverticular disease?

I was just diagnosed with diverticular disease and was wondering if any other pcosers have it also. I have been reading about it online freaking out. Having pcos is bad enough but now I have another disease, both that have very restrictive diets.... I am sooo depressed right now.

Yes, I have had it. I was diagnosed with diverticulitis in September 2007, and by December 2007 I had to have surgery to remove the portion of my colon where the diverticulitis was. Although the pain is gone I still struggle with digestive problems. But I also had my gallbladder removed in 2004, so I got a double whammy where my digestive system is concerned-lol! What is your doctor telling you about it?

Actually my dr is not telling me anything!!! He told me I have it, that it is not infected as of the time of the cat scan and that was it! I had to research it online to see what it was all about. I have attacks frequently lately and have been on pain meds for a few weeks now. I am calling him tomorrow and asking for a referral to a specialist. I am only 25 and all of the things I have read online is when the person is young they prefer to have the surgery done, as they have a long life to live.

Anyways, I was feeling better for about 2 days and then today woke up with the pains and had horrible diarreha tonight. And I thought pcos was bad....

That's why I decided to have surgery as well, because I was having attacks so frequently. I did have an infection when I was first diagnosed, and it came back a couple of times. I think you definitely need to see a specialist if you are having so many attacks. My primary doctor sent me to a gastro (can't spell the whole word-lol) doctor, who then had me get a colonoscopy and endoscopy. He said from the results that I would definitely be better off having the surgery, because I was 34 at the time (they told me that I was really young to have this, and you are even younger than me!), and that I would have a "long road ahead of me" if I decided not to have the surgery. I'm happy that I did have the surgery done, although I still have problems with diarrhea but like I said I've also had my gallbladder out so between both it hasn't been easy. If you aren't getting any infections, then I know the attacks and symptoms can be controlled with diet, but like you said with PCOS you are already restricted as it is. With diverticular disease, you really have to watch your fat intake, and certain foods than can irritate the little pockets. Do as much research as you can, I did find a lot of helpful info online. And I'll be glad to answer any questions that you have if I can! Good luck!
