Hi!! My name is Sandy and my 13 (almost 14) year old daughter was diagnosed about 2 weeks ago. THE DIET IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE! She is on Avandia. So many of you refer tp being on metformin. Is anyone on Avandia. The doctor wants to try it for 6 months before adding or changing it!!! I am getting anxious. I realize she is lucky to be diagnosed early but I really want to start seeing some results. HELP!!!!!

I started Avandia in November and my Dr. told me that it can take anywhere from 6 weeks to 3 months to see any difference. I haven't seen any difference yet :S so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I can't take the Metformin, I just throw up all the time when I do.
It's hard to hurry up and wait with these things but while you wait, check out the website and you'll learn lots of things that you can go back to the doctor with - ready to discuss your daughters' particular case with knowledge they won't expect you to have.
I'll post it if it finally makes any difference to my sugars.

I take it. It made me gain 7 lbs. but I lost that.
It works great. I have no reactions. I think it was water weight in the
beginning.
