I've seen several quick references to PCOS and extreme tiredness but can't find much info about any connection. The docs can't explain the tiredness--they always want to blame my thyroid, but I have no thyroid anymore and haven't had to change my dosage in years so that is not the problem. Once that test comes back normal, they quit looking. Anybody else have this problem?
I should have included more background. I've already seen about 10 doctors (no lie). I also have severe endometriosis, so unfortunately, low estrogen is not my problem. So far, everything seems to have been ruled out so that's why I'm wondering if it could be related to PCOS.
I don't have sleep apnea (DH does, but not me), I don't suffer from depression and I am hypoglycemic so I do not eat sugar or other high glycemic carbs. My doctors are at a loss. I have been tested for everything under the sun, but everything they've found that could be a factor is now under control (except the hormones) and I am still tired. My mom always was too, but she was anemic and I'm not. I know it's somehow related to the hormone problems, but nothing seems to work and the surgeries to alleviate the endo just seem to make things worse.
I've had extensive allergy tests, so I know it isn't that. I do tend to have allergic reactions to medications, but I am very careful what I take and have even stopped ttc because of Clomid side effects. I can't even take pain pills after surgeries, but I know that's not the issue with my everyday fatigue, and it doesn't seem to qualify as chronic fatigue syndrome either.
Do you take Metformin? I was also extremely tired earlier this year. I started taking a B vitamin complex b/c I read somewhere on this site that Met can cause your B vitamins to be too low. It made an ENORMOUS difference in my energy level - I wouldn't have believed it if it didn't happen to me. I just got back from a 2 week trip to Fiji and while I was there I got sloppy about taking medicine/vitamins b/c my schedule was off. Halfway through I started complaining to my friend that I was exhausted even though I was sleeping more than at home and napping some afternoons. I was getting some advil for her and found my bottle of B vitamins and started taking them and felt better in a matter of days.
I also feel tired. I just started taking some herbs my acupuncturist gave me. They have actually helped me and I don't feel all shaky after taking them. They are for energy, no caffeine or anything like that. Theses just help your circulation which helps with fatigue. I know...just what we need is more pills! If you are interested I will give you her web page. Good Luck and I feel for you.

Do you rise and retire at the same time every night? Do you get enough sleep each night?
Do you eat a healthy breakfast every morning, and spread out the rest of your nutrition throughout the day?
For me, diet can make a huge difference in my energy levels. Low fat diets for me, trigger depression (which for me manifests as extreme fatigue). Even if I 'accidentally' eat low fat for a few days, my energy plummets. To combat it, I take fish oil.
I also feel groggy all the time if I eat a diet too heavy in starchy carbs. I do fine on low carb, and I also do fine on low glycemic, and even vegetarian diets heavy in fresh produce.

Hey there
I have the same problem, for me sporting really helps. Try to do some serious sports about 3 times a week, and at least 45 min of mild exercise each day, see if it gets better. Good luck!
