Anybody Go To The Gyno In The Middle Of Your Period?
I have an appointment tomorrow at 3 p.m. for what has been a very painful infection of some sort, and it's painful enough where I just don't feel like I can put it off until the periold is over. I'm really hoping my blood completely dries up by tomorrow, but I know it won't.
So, I'm wondering if anybody else has gone to the gyno in the middle of their period? What did you do? I mean they always tell me to take off everything but my socks and put on the paper gown. I usually end up sitting there 15 to 30 minutes depending on how behind their appointments are. I can't just sit there and bleed all over the table.
Did you just keep your underwear and pad on until they came in? And if so, did you end up taking off the undies with a bloody pad in front of them when they came in? That just freaks me out.
aww, sweetie could you ring and ask if you can keep the appointment?? or else explain when you get to your appointment tell them about your flow. I know when i had my mirena fitted i had to sit there- naked from the waist down, too. tmi.

Aww Heather!!! I have been to the RE's office with full blown AF. When I called and told them that I had my period, they told me that I wasn't the first patient that they have seen that has had her period.
What my doctor's office usually does is put something under my butt so that if i leak it won't be on their chair. They should have it at your doctor's too. It looks like a large paper towel that has some kind of plastic on it.

Yeah, I went in hemorraging. Not pretty. I told the nurse and she got out the plastic sheet RosieCheesks talked about. They are used to it! They even told me they were! I think she called it a barrier sheet. Just ask! I would get yourself taken care of and don't worry about the blood!

Yeah, I say don't worry about it, either. They are used to delivering babies, and there's a lot of blood involved. When I had dd, I remember standing up and gushing blood all over the floor. They can definitely give you something to sit on. After you have a baby, the hospital gives you these things that look like enormous pads, and the nurses would have to come and change them for me when I was still hooked up to stuff and couldn't move myself.
You know what they always say...no matter how embarrassing, it's nothing your doctor hasn't seen or heard before!

They're a family doctor's office, but the Nurse Practicioner will do pap and pelvic exams. I don't know if they're used to this sort of thing. My last appointment fell during the week I had my periold and they had me re-schedule.
I would prefer to put this off, but I don't have any other days coming up when they will be open that I can take off. And this infection is really bothering me.
I'll call them in the morning and tell them ahead.
I think the reason they would have rescheduled you last time was that if you were going in for a pap, they couldn't get a good whack at your cervix without all that blood contaminating the sample.
Unfortunately, yeah I've gone while bleeding very heavily. It's so humiliating. I just let them know in advance how much I was bleeding. They deal with that stuff everyday. Good luck hun.
