Default Anyone on Actos??? Please respond...

Hi Again:

I am brand new and would love some feedback from those of you who are taking Actos. I am taking it to lower my insulin levels but would love to see some weight loss as well. My weight just seems to come over sooo very slowly as the women around me seem to be dropping pounds so quickly and easily. Thank you for your responses.

Actos seems to have helped my lab results pcos wise however I have not been ovulating and it has caused some weight gain in me. And just recently, after taking it for almost a year I have gotten a bit of mild edema in my legs. ugh.

Hi Jennifer:

How quickly did you gain weight on it? My weight seems the same so far which is good and bad. I have only been on 1 7mg. pill at night with dinner. I was told to cut a 15mg. pill in half. It doesn't seem to upset my stomach the way everything else did. I already have children and am done with that. I wish you the best of luck.

I don't know about actos but I had the ankle edema with avandia. Metformin made me sick, maybe actos is the next one to go. I don't have an apt with the Dr til October, so we'll see then. <----me at the Dr....LOL

I'm on Actos and Metformin. Actos worked wonders for me. When I was on Met alone, it didn't help. My Dr. added actos, and my periods came back, as normal as could be! My dr. said that I would gain weight on the actos and lose weight on met, so it would counterbalance. HTH!

I started gaining weight pretty quickly on the actos...I know I had gained maybe 3-7 lbs in the first three months I was on it. This didn't seem to concern my doc though.

Cool

I am on Actos also. I take 30mg every morning with breakfast. It seems to work wonderfully for me. I have had 30-day cycles every month for the last eight months and I have ovulated a few times too. My only issue that I am beginning to see is that I am having elevated blood pressure. It seems to have started since I have been taking the Actos and I was wondering if anyone else had that problem?

Thanks,

msvon

I've been on Actos for around 2 years and really like it. I did have some swelling before, but after stopping the Actos, it didn't go away, so that wasn't it. My mother-in-law was on it for a while, and she gained 15lbs I think. But on the flip side of that, I lost 63lbs with dieting, so you can do it! I was already on blood pressure pills, so I haven't really seen a change in that. My blood sugars are really good though, and no side effects like with Met.
I wish you all the luck in the world!!!
Hugs
Julie

I am not insulin resistant but my docotr put me on the metformin to try to induce menses. but nothing happened so my doctor added 45 mg of actos. I was on it for a year and it did cause me to have a menstrual cycle every two months or so but I didn't feel good on it and my doctor and I both believed that the increased dose of metformin caused the periods and not the actos. So I stopped it about 2 week ago. I did gain weight on actos. Approximately 10 pounds over a year....Hope this info helps! Good luck!
