We plan on ttc in January but I don't know how it will go seeing my cycles are all over the place. If it doesn't happen after 2 to 3 years we plan on adopting from South America.
Has anyone here adopted from South America and lives in Australia? Could you please let me know how difficult it was to adopt, how long it took etc?
Thank you .

I was in the early process of adopting from Panama, but currently on hold as I'm pregnant. The agency I worked with does Panama and Columbia adoptions and I believe they work with foriegn couples (outside the USA) as well. Here's their website link: Commonwealth Adoptions

I tried to adopt from Brazil and Argentina and even though I was born in Argentina it was almost impossible. In both countries (Argentina was worse) you have to move and live there for at least 6 months or so. They don't adopt out of the country.
Here (USA) there is many agencies that adopt from Central America and other places too. I ended up with an agency here adopting a baby from Houston also. I met the mother and everything but two days after he was born, she decided to keep him. But I had a good experience with the agency. I think you have to find an agency in Australia and they'll handle all the paper work for you. (I found out I was pregnant the day the adopted baby was born)

DH and I live in the US, but we're currently adopting from Colombia. I'd be happy to answer any questions. There is also a yahoo group called ColombianConnections that I think has several people on it who live in Australia and have adopted from, or are adopting from, Colombia.
