Weight loss always has good sides to it if you are over weight to begin with. I am sure that some women have seen symptoms completely disappear, but thats not always the case. PCOS is mainly a hormonal imbalance and without balancing them the symptoms are more likely going to stay. Hope I helped some. Read around the boards and you will find more answers.

My PCOS symptoms were just as bad when I was a very skinny little thing. Perhaps worse as I only got 2 or 3 AF a year back then and had terrible acne, now (big and fat) I get it about 6 or 7 times a year even if I'm not taking Met and I have very little acne.

Unless your PCOS symptoms were caused by weight gain in the first place (the excess estrogen and insulin resistance due to obesity can cause PCOS symptoms) you may not see much change. It is a myth that most of the medical community insists on adhering to that obesity is the CAUSE of PCOS. In at least 2/3 of us, it is NOT.

That said, if you are correcting your metabolism in order to lose the weight, you might get some good relief.

No, I don't think the symptoms will diminish with weight loss. Unfortunatly we have PCOS and the symptoms no matter what size we are.
I'm a thin cyster, and some of my symptoms are pretty bad. Just within the last few weeks I have noticed my scalp. I can actually kinda see my scalp on the top of my head. Not bad, but I notice when my hair is pulled back.
And I think I would have no periods what size I am.....

Stay on your natural supplements, so they can aid you with your symptoms....
Take care,

I started taking metformin about a year and a half ago. I lost approximately 10 pounds (went from 150 to 140). I started ovulating on my own and the facial hair has definitely diminished. However, my hair is still falling out so I started taking b12 supplements and that seems to have helped a little.

Hope this helps!

I lost 80lbs 6yrs ago (but have gained some back) and ALMOST all of my symtoms are gone...or are at least MUCH better.

My cycles are 28days (and I am ovulating), and I don't have acne anymore. My hormone levels are managable now too.

I might get an occasional stray hair or pimple, but all in all, I would say that losing the weight COMPLETELY balanced me out.

Weight gain is a symptom too. Your other symptoms diminishing will not be because of the weight loss, but because you have taken control of things via diet, exercise, and meds. Losing weight is a result of this, just as much as your hair growing back or your acne improving.

I've lost 25 lbs so far, and I have noticed a few changes here & there but nothing major. I still have 25 lbs to go before I reach my goal weight, so it's possible that I'll notice more change as more weight comes off.
