Hi there!

Sounds like we're in a similar situation! I'm 5'7 at 137lbs and I'd like to get down to about 130...

Anyway, the only thing that works well for me is to cut down on how much food I eat and to concentrate more on fruits & veggies. Drink lots of water!! Sorry, wish I could give you a particular diet, but it's really a way of living that is most healthy. For the most part, it's a Zone type of diet. If you haven't read The Zone, you should check it out!

Yes, me too. I am 5'6" and 150lbs (148 now) and look normal.

I seem to be gaining about 3-5 lbs a year and I don't like that.

The only thing that used to work for me was exercise. Now I have been exercising for 2 months and MAYBE lost 2 lbs, if any. It suddenly got very difficult to lose weight.

I have noticed as well that if I don't exercise at least 5 or 6 hours a week, my weight stalls at around 130 (I'm 5'5"). For the past 5 weeks, I've been vigorously exercising and I've gotten down to 128. It would hardly seem worth the effort except for the fact that I've been noticing alot more toning and definition.

Hi. I'm in the same boat. I'm 5'3 & 125 pounds. It seems like only a few years ago that I weighed 112. I have had the worst time losing weight - the scale only goes up. I'd like to weigh between 115 and 120, but have never been able to get there no matter how hard I try. Last week, I started the insulin resistance diet and have already lost about 4 pounds. I think this diet can work for everyone, even thin cysters. Now I only have six more pounds to go before I feel like me again. I hope the diet suggestion helps!

mhauk,

update: I also started insulin resistance diet this sunday!
And, weighting myself at the gym yesterday, I lost 5 lbs since I started exercise, so now I am 145 lbs! Of course 5 lbs is nothing in 2.5 months, but if you look at it as 2 lbs in 2 months followed by 3 lbs in a couple of weeks.... its a different picture.

Maybe its the diet? Or the exercise effect is kicking in with a delay?

Congrats! I think exercise has a lot to do with the loss, but I don't think it would take you two months to see effects. A combination of the diet and exercise seems to be the trick for you! I've also added exercise to my routine, so I'm looking forward to weighing in this Sunday.

Good luck, and keep me posted on your success.

I've been exercising more regularly than I have ever done before, but since going on the pill I've actually been gaining weight. I'm going to the doctor in a couple of weeks to see if I can get a different medication.

Keep in mind though, that muscle weighs more than fat. If you are exercising that regularly, you may be losing fat and gaining muscle weight.

Question exercise, ovulation problems

Hi, I am brand new to this board and newly diagnosed PCOS--just started Metformin this week.
I am average weight for my height--5'11" and 165 pounds. All my weight is on my stomach. It looks quite out of proportion.
I have maintained my weight only by working out 4 to 5 times a week with both weights and aerobics. When I stop exercising the weight comes right on and conversely no matter how much I work out or eat right I never get below 160-165.
My doctor told me that running and heating up the body is extremely bad for ovulation. She said elevated temps. interfere with the ovary's ability to release eggs. Seems I have only been ovulating 3 or 4 times a year. Since I'm trying to get pregnant she has told me to simply walk and continue with weights.
Already I am gaining pounds. How can I keep the weight down if I am not really moving? Anyone else in this boat?--Thanks
