If so, how long was it before you noticed results? I've been on Yasmin for about 4 1/2 months. The first month looked promising because I only got a couple new pimples and the rest started to heal. However, in the months that followed, I ended up with more breakouts than the first month. I guess overall it's still less than what I had prior to starting Yasmin, and it is definitely controlling the excess oil, but I'm still consistently getting pimples regularly. My doctor thinks that it will improve more as time goes on. From anyone else's experience, is that true? Or at this point is this the most it's going to improve my skin?
MY results with yasmin really went well after about 6 months, my breakouts were still there but a different kind like smaller and lower on my jaw, never big red ones. I did loose hair with yasmin, on my head , but i didnt mind really? because i wasnt balding, just thinner all over. I always had to use topicals even on yasmin, i used proactives nightly cream where i usually broke out, it seemed to help alot. what really cleared it up was when i was eating low carb and yasmin, together i had near perfect skin, oily but not spotty. the oil never went, i used oil blotting sheets. hope this helps.

Siayae - That does help. I'll keep waiting for a couple more months to see if it gets better. I'm just really impatient. I think that my hair may be thinning with the Yasmin as well. It's not a whole lot, so I'm not really concerned at this point about it either. My main focus is if it will clear the acne. Like I said, it really is better than before I started taking it. I just want the "perfect, beautiful skin" that everyone taking Yasmin seems to rave about LOL! I've also been focusing on my diet, so perhaps that will start to pay off soon.
It took about 3 months I think of being on the Yasmin to notice a difference. I also use Clinique for acne, and still do. I tried Proactiv, which seemed to make my face worse. My face is really clear on Yasmin, and stayed pretty much clear for the almost 7 years I was on it. However, now after going off of Yasmin (it masked the labwork and a few symptoms for the diagnosis of PCOS so I wasn't diagnosed until the age of 37, and I've only had one cycle on my own without the use of Premarin in 7 months), and the acne is bad! Good luck!
JennieK- I had the same experience with Proactiv. I realize that BCPs only mask the problem, which really frustrates me, but I don't know what else to do about the acne. I'm like you. Without it I'm a mess. I don't want to have to take this stuff forever, you know? I would like to eventually go off of them to see what level my hormones are at, and perhaps try something to improve the imbalance. Unfortunately for the time being I'm uninsured and can't afford the cost of the lab work. Do you know how long you should be off of BCPs to get an accurate reading of your hormones? I usually have severe cystic acne about 4 weeks after stopping them, and I just don't know if I can go through that AGAIN! I suppose I'm going to have to do it eventually though. *sigh* Sometimes I get so tired of dealing with this all of the time.
Before starting on Yasmin 3 months ago, I had moderate to severe cystic acne, and extremely oily skin. The first couple months I only saw a slight improvement, and actually the first couple weeks my skin was worse! But now it's smoother than it's been in years.
Also, I've noticed that I have much less pelvic pain, which probably means it's helping with those horrible ovarian cysts.
My skin is nowhere near perfect yet, but at least now I feel hope. Maybe though, if I don't have more improvement, soon, though, I'll ask my doctor about adding a small amount of spiro. Maybe that would help with your excess oiliness.

So it's been 3 weeks since my original post. Since then, I have been keeping to a strict insulin resistant type diet. I'm glad to say that finally the combination of Yasmin and diet seem to be working on my acne. Right now I only have two pimples total! I also started doing weekly lactic acid peels suggested by another cyster (indianagal), which really helped dry up a few as well.
KTFace- I also noticed an overall lighter feeling around my pelvis after starting Yasmin. I never really experienced too much pain associated with cysts, but just had a general bloated feeling that I was really unaware of before the Yasmin. I too think that perhaps it is helping with the cysts. I thought about maybe adding a bit of spiro as well, but too much of it has caused major fatigue for me in the past. I was only taking 50mg, so I really wanted to wait and see if the Yasmin would handle my acne alone. Like I said earlier, my diet has helped me a lot. I hope that your skin will continue to improve. I know how hard acne can be on your self esteem, and I wish you the best
Other than using just the random assortment of facial care products (which I used before and never helped) Yasmin seems to really clear up my skin on it's own. Like someone else said, I still get breakouts, but they're much less severe.
KTface.... is that a Doozer? I loved them!!!

OHHHHHHHHHHHHH and OMG so now i understand why i have such unusually OILY SKIN> Its because im a PCOSER......OMG. And i never realized it. My skins all most as long as i can remember being oily. But, OMG. And yes, ive been on Yasmin for A long time. Well i know for a fact tht atleast 2 yrs......i took it the 1st yr and then stopped for a few months and then about a yr ago started it again. And have stopped again from this past month. Yes my hair has also been falling and since you all are saying, it could very well be because of Yasmin. I never realized it.But just today, 2 of my very good friends have PCOS, but have amazingly beautiful hair. And they just told me tonight, as i was at their place, that they are taking this GNC multi vitamin, which has REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLLY helped them. And i tell y'all they have amazing hair. I mean i can not tell at all that they both has PCOS> So im going to go and buy that drug from Gnc tmr. Or as soon as i can. And i will for sure but up the name on her. For you all. But i want to try it at first and then see whether what the 2 friends of mine has told me, does it work for me too or not? I cant wait to go buy it and try it.........? Sigh.........BUt as far as the acne you guys, i recomend trrying ProActive, i tell you all it rreally works, and the BIGGEST AND BEST THING IS GOING ON SPIRONOLACTONE. Im DEAD serious, go on it. And within a span of a few months my acne has completely finished. I only get a pimple here and there when i drink high amounts of coffee which is during finals and exams. But i tell you Spiro is a LIFE SAVER. Just dont go on it because Ive told you to go on it. Discuss it with your Dr., look at the Pro's and Con's. The one side effect of taking it is that, your Potassium in some people rises as it has something to do with the liver. So when i was on it, within a week my dr has my blood drawn getting my Potassium level checked and since there was not much increase in it she put me on 100mg of it. Its has really really helped me. So for all you gals with PCOS out there, definitely think about this option. It has also improved my hair a great deal. Since the past 8 - 10 yrs, hairs that have been growing on my head, have finally started growing. They were the same size all these yrs. ANd now after being on Spiro, i love it. Yes the one main thing why all this is happening is because Spiro drops your Testosterone levels. I was at 54 and now im at a 35. Which is amazing. And since your Tes drops you stop breaking out, your aunt flo becomes regular. I so far have just stopped taking Yasmin. I want to see if i can get them on my own, with out BCPS. Lets see.
