I was recently diagnosed with PCOS. I have the classic symptoms...insulin resistance, hair loss/excess hair, ance, oily skin and I'm overweight. My dr is putting me on a combo of meds that he said hasn't been used by many people yet however is working wonders for his patients. I'm on Metformin and Flutamide. The Metformin is to control my insulin and the Flutamide is to help control the amounts of testosterone working in my body. He said that he has okay results with just metformin but when they are combined the results are amazing. I'm just wondering if anyone else's drs have tried this.
I'm not on meds yet but if you have success with this combo, please let me know.

Just updating things a little. I've have an upset stomach since Friday. The constant feeling of nausea isn't fun. I got some ginger supplements and that's helping a lot though. Karen are you feeling the same??
I can say that I'm noticing a difference in my face already. My skin isn't oily!!! My skin has been so oily since I got off my birth control pills that I could wash my face several times a day and it still wouldn't dry up. I'm very happy about that. As of now that's all I've noticed.
I'll talk to you later. Bye ladies.

see I'm completely opposite...I feel so sick to my stomach that I just don't want to eat at all. The fact I'm taking the meds w/ food is the only thing that does keep me eating.

Just updating on this mater. So far I've seen some good things. I took my dosage down to 2 Flutamides a day and 1 metformin a day and my nausea went away. But now I'm trying to inch it up again. My stomach is giving me problems...but everyone has a little bit with metformin from what I read.
My hair has stopped falling out like it was. My face isn't oily and my breakouts have really been stopped almost completely. I'm on my period this week so my face is reacting to that like normal but I feel a lot better about my appearance. The ugly hairs on my toes aren't as noticeable anymore. Thank goodness! I love flip flops and I hate that I had to shave my toes! When I weighed in last Thursday I had lost 6 lbs over 2 wks. Not expecting any weight loss this week because of my period.
I will be starting my other meds for my endometriosis this week I believe. I'm not sure how that will affect my weight loss or energy yet.
I'll keep you posted.
Ashley

Yes- please anyone on this keep us posted as I would be willing to talk to my doctor about this as just the metformin/fortamet alone is not doing very much for my symptoms. I also think my doctor would be open to trying some new things.
Does anyone have any links to any research articles I could look at/ provide to my doctor.

Hi Ashley!
I'm in the Dallas area also but I have a doctor (my OB/Gyn). I checked out your doctor's website. It said "PCOS New Weightloss Treatment Breakthrough". Is the new "breakthrough" the combo of meds you are on, Met and Flutamide? I know you said you were on some for endometriosis also. I was wondering which ones he said were for the wt loss breakthrough.
Thanks for your help!
