Default Anyone come off of spironolactone? What happens?

First off, I am a newbie here, so hi everyone!

I have been taking spironolactone for 1.5 years, and have just decided to come off of it because I actually want my testosterone levels to go back up (I weight train and it helps me build muscle very quickly and easily). I just wanted to know what changes I can expect to go through over the next little bit....also, are there any health risks with me coming off my meds altogether? Thanx!

Thanx for the advice...I actually spoke to 2 doctors before making my decision and they were both ok with it. My pcos symptoms were not very severe, I watch my diet and I am in good health otherwise, so that is why they were fine with my decision. I think I remember hearing that it takes 1 month before the symptoms will return though...

I would say be careful. I did not have bad PCOS symptoms before I was diagnosed and went on Metformin. When I started taking Met, I was also taking Prednisone for a rash I had from an allergic reaction to some new lotion. My doc said it was fine to take both. I was on prednisone for 16 days. A few days after I got off the prednisone, I started breaking out in hives around my knees and abdomen during the middle of the night. Come to find out I am allergic to Met. So I stopped taking it. Then all of the sudden I started having PCOS symptoms like never before. I started getting acne bumps all over my face. Not red, more like white heads. And my hair started to fall out. I am still struggling with the hair loss and it has been a year and a half since that happened. I wish I never had taken Met.

So all to say, just because you didn't have bad symptoms before does not mean you won't have them after you get off Spiro. So be watchful.
