Anyone else diagnosed with PCOS 'and' Heart Disease? PCOS and heart disease? I have had PCOS for 20+ years although it wasn't until 4 years ago that I found out there were more implications than growing hair where you don't want it, voice lowering and fertility problems.
I am 42 years old and had a heart attack 2 weeks ago Wednesday. I'm wondering if there is anyone else out there with similiar issues. I had started with increase swelling in my legs which led me to find out my ovaries were shutting down and palptations like crazy especially at certain times of the month along with other symptoms. The heart attack came out of the blue. My blood work has been really good, slight elevation in cholesterol, I don't smoke, don't drink, I am overweight which has been a constant battle and my mother had a heart attack at age 52.
I would love to talk to anyone that is battling both of these issues and to let others of you know, pay attention to your bodies. I had pain on Monday night and ignored it. Two days later I'm back at the hospital with chest and left arm discomfort and ended up with a cath and a stent. From what I'm learning we are at a much greater risk of having heart attacks then the general population by about 4 fold. Especially in the 40-50 age range. Women's syptoms are not the same as men and we tend to ignore signs. Please get checked out if you even suspect it's your heart.
