Default Anyone else ditch Metformin?

I just cannot do this. It has been almost 6 weeks since I started 1500 mg of Met XR. I literally could not leave my bathroom for 2 days.

Although that was the worst of it, the "best" days are spent feeling dizzy (almost enough to fall over), extremely nauseated, I cannot eat carbs, sugar, fat, vegtables (this leaves lean bland meat, oh yeah).

As soon as I eat, I must rush to find a bathroom.

I have decided to stop taking it b/c I literally cannot work. I have started the South Beach diet again (this was what my Dr recomended first). I feel awesome, I have energy, I am alert, my stomach feels wonderful, I actually look forward to working out.

Any one else do this ?

I wanted to soooo badly... but I stuck it out and I'm REALLY glad that I did. I had every side effect known to man... and in full force, too! I would throw up constantly, make me have dizzy spells, and basically the whole list of side effects. I started with 500mg, then up to 1000mg then up to 1500mg... I had to do it very gradually. 500 I didn't have any s/e .... 1000 I was nauseous and would occasionally throw up..... then when I felt comfortable with 1000 I went up to 1500..... and it was pretty awful for a while there but my body learned to metabolize it and now I'm doing fine on it... it's regulating my cycles and I think I might might might ovulate

i gave up on metformin the first time, but this time around it's been really great. i had a few side effects the first couple of weeks, but after that it was fine. i've now lost 12 lbs.

I did start slowly. I had not symptoms with 750 mg but as soon as I moved to 1500 mg it was all down hill.

After 5 months & 10 periods worth, plus 5 lb and hairloss, I'd had enough. I was so tired I couldn't get to class half the time, and I never ovulated. I ditched and am sorry I ever tried it--think my spiro stopped working due to met. I also couldn't get above 750 XR because I would puke.

I never had the diarrhea--had constipation so bad I had hemorrhoids though.

I stopped taking Met. It didn't do anything for me. Nothing. I did have the bad stomach side effects at the beginning, but I managed to get past that stage...but then after months on it and no results whatsoever, I stopped taking it (with the advice of my doctor). I know Met helps a lot of women, but it really didn't do much for me.
