Question Anyone else going to start Met soon?

Going to start Met again this weekend or Monday. Anyone else going to start taking it around this time? TTC #1.

I was on it before , but for only a few weeks, cause I got a weird rash. Was taking other medication around same time, so not sure which meds caused the rash. Been scared to try again since......lol......But, have since found a new RE and have been prescribed again and wants me to try......

Just looking for someone to compare notes with......etc...
Thanks

I was diagnosed with PCOS in November and the specialist put me on Metformin which I took for two days. But then my own doctor called me to query the prescription and asked me to stop taking it until she had double-checked the tests and results. I am seeing my doctor on Tuesday so will find out then whether I need to take Met or not...

Even though I only took Met for two days I immediately suffered from a bad stomach and on the second day felt quite sick. I am not looking forward to the possibility of having to go back on it.

I hope you guys don't suffer in the same way...

Thanks....Amy, I will let you know. I decided to start on Monday, had my cousin over and we had wine Saturday night. I know you are not suppose to drink on Met, so I had to get it out of the system.....lol

Hi there !

I began Met on Jan 1/04 ! Hopefully a new start toward a long journey.

I noticed only one side effect -- mostly running to the bathroom. It's been pretty good the last day or so. (I just ate lunch -- maybe I spoke too soon ! LOL)

I am wondering if it will help with weight loss? I am starting to walk with a co-worker tonight. I am also trying to eat healthier. I also think that when I have time to research it I am going to start some kind of 'diet' (I hate to use that word). Maybe Atkins or something......any suggestions?

Hey guys.......

Going to go take mine now. I don't know why I put everything off till the last minute..... Thanks to the ones who have already started and let me know how you were doing. One thing that I am afraid of is the bathroom runs....I work on an assembly line at work, so I can't just run off when I need to, if you know what I mean.

About the d-word (diet) My dietician gave me things to follow, and its pretty sensible. Just eat healthier things in smaller amounts. Make sure you eat breakfast. Eat 6 small meals instead of 3 huge ones, with snacks. Eat all the vegetables and fruits that you want. Watch the carbs, but you can still have them. No white flour and highly processed foods and sugar. Drink alot of water.

Talk to you all later

I started my met today. 500mg. I was on it for a study I did last year around this time....although I didn't take it then like I was supposed to...I did see vast improvement.

I finally met with something a few weeks ago who is knowledgeable about PCOS (which is sometimes hard to find) and who put me on met without having to jump through hoops.

I remember having the poo-poos a lot when I was on it then..so, I have been really delaying starting until "the right time."
As I am turning 30 in April (ugh) with no children of my own, I am very determined that this will be my conceiving year, so I am committed to the met, the diet, and doing it right.

Glad to see this site is still around....I used to log into it everynow
and then a few years ago....I'll definately be in and out more often now that there is the message board, and its a posted fave at work! HA HA!

Good luck to everyone...

Holding my cheeks, and crossing my fingers...

Default I will be

I'll be starting on February 1, so that I can remember precisely when I started taking it. I have a horrible memory so this is the best bet for me. I'm sort of scared though, after having read all the posts about how people constantly run to the bathroom and the upset tummies and such. I work three days a week though, so it shouldn't be too bad should it? I wonder if I can just schedule the time I take the pills around the times I don't eat so I don't have a problem.

Talking Hello Ladies

Just took my 3rd dose today. And I must say, so far so good again. Not bad at all. I am on the new Met though, the Met ER. (XR) I only take it once at bed time. Even thought I am only on 500mg now, when I take 3 a day, I still will take all 3 at bedtime together.
Welcome back diamathyst. I like your name, is it a combo of diamond and amethyst? You should just take it now. It took me awhile to take mine again too.
And Hopeful One. I started writing everything down on a calander that is just for MY PCOS stuff. It helps alot, cause I am like you and can't remember anything. I also have a couple journals laying around. But the calander is cool. I hung it in the computer room, and have highlighters I get to color with on there

Talk to you later

yup, I start tonight. Actually in about 20 min I'll go take it and go to bed... ***luck vibes*** for us both.

I'll take 500 mg XR until 2/13 and then I'll go in and talk to the doc and she said she'll probably up my dosage then.

Cool update on me

Hey, I love your dogs Z. Are they boston terriers? We have two boxers, and we love them. I am going to try and put a picture up this weekend.

As for me, I was doing wonderful, until today. I am still doing well, but I had a few bathroom runs today...yucky. But so far the Met is not killing me......hee hee
Taking another dose here in a few......
Keep me posted...
