Ok so I went to doc today finally after noticing that my right ears been "weird" for a while now, kinda clogged sounding going on for like 5+ yrs. (I know its a long time but I don't really notice that often but recently its been buggin more.) Anyway the audiologist said I have mid-range permenent hearing loss in both ears. She asked if I have any family history of hearing loss, which I don't, asked if it's possible its been since birth but I just haven't really noticed til now (thats a possibility but I passed the school hearing tests so I dunno). Then she said "I don't know you're young, healthy, you don't have diabetes", and thats when I said "I have PCOS" which is kinda related to diabetes in regards to the insulin. She had no idea what PCOS was so I explained breifly and she said she was going to look into if there is any studied correlation.
But long story short ... does anyone else have PCOS and unexplained diagnosed hearing loss? I'm just trying to figure out where this came from and if it's yet another possible symptom of PCOS.
Thanks! Sorry for the long post =)

Yep, I have permanent hearing loss and was diagnosed when I was 5 yrs but had it since birth, but doctors never noticed it. There is no family history of hearing loss either and it was never pinpointed why this happened to me. I was once told by a genetic doctor that is was just something in the gene's, that someone in my family circle would get this once in every 500 years and I was the unlucky one. Personnally, I think this is a bull**** story and that he didn't know, lol. I was diagnosed with PCO's in October '08. I never thought for once that this could have something to do with PCO's. If you get any more info on it, can you please let me know, I would be interested to know.
Thanks

Yep, I have a permanent hearing loss and was diagnosed when I was 5yrs old. I have had this since I was born but it was only when I went to school that the school nurse noticed I was partially deaf. No one in my family has any hearing loss and no real reasons where established why this happened to me. One doctor told me that it was a genetic thing in my family where it happens to one in every 500 yrs and I was the unlucky one. To be honest, I don't really believe thats what happened. I was diagnosed with PCO's in Oct '08. I never thought that the two could be connected. If you find any more infor regarding this, I would appreciate if you could mail me to let me know. I would be very interested to know.
Thanks

I found out that I did during a routine hearing test when I was in the military. I never worked around anything that would have caused hearing loss so I have no idea what happened. I used to have great hearing and now it's a little below average. The only thing I could even come up with that it might be related to is the fact that I grind my teeth while I sleep, I never thought that it could be related to PCOS. Hmmm-- now I'll have to research.....
