Default Anyone else have oily skin + acne+ DRY skin????

Just wondering if anyone else has this and what are you using?

My skin has always been super oily, and I have some acne. I don't typically keep acne all the time, but do get the cystic bumps at times. However, while my skin is oily (my face is shiny about an hour after I wash it), I also have skin that is so dry that's peeling. It's dry like this even when I am not using anything on acne, and I just do spot treatment for that. The places that are dry are not even places where I had acne!

Right now I am using Philosophy purity made simple face wash, and use the Clinique water based moisturizer, and then the salicylic acid topical cream as needed on acne. My skin is still super dry.

So, does anyone else have this problem, and if so, what are you using on your face??

Thanks in advance!

I don't necessarily get dry when not using products, but I do when using any kind of benzoyl peroxide or topical, have you tried olay sensitive face lotion with spf? it's the only lotion I can use on my face that doesn't make it greasy. Also, Olay dual action cleanser with toner (it's one product) is AMAZING! Clears my face right up!

I was explaining it to a Skin specialist at Shoppers Drug Mart...and she's like...how can your skin be super oily but yet dry? lol

I need to find the super product to help me!

I hate having such oily skin...and the summer weather doesn't make it any better!

Help needed over here please

I know EXACTLY what you mean! I have this thing where my skin is naturally oily and I have mild acne...but basically any products that I use to stop the acne make my skin super dry. I found that using cleansers that are less harsh and then following that with a light moisturizer stops the dryness. Cetaphil actually works wonders for me. Also I found that finding ways to just keep my skin balanced naturally clears my acne, without having to use benzoyl peroxide or salicylic acid. Maybe the cleanser that you are using is too harsh for your skin?

My face is mostly dry but I break out a lot too. I am also trying to find a good cleanser and foundation for my skin. Everything I try makes the dryness worse...

I have a similar problem. I have problems with what I think is considered a "T" zone, my nose, parts of my forehead, and my chin seem to be pretty oily. And the rest of my face, my cheeks especially are super dry, to the point where I call it snake skin, because it looks like I'm shedding my outer layer! When the dryness gets really bad to where it's flaky, I use St. Ives Apricot scrub, just where the skin is flaky, it takes the top layer off. Then I use Philosophy Hope in a Jar moisturizer. It seems to do a good job of balancing out my skin. My face wash changes depending on my acne situation. When the acne is bad, I use the clean and clear acne control kit, and just deal with the dry skin so I don't have acne. When I don't have any acne, I also use Philosophy's purity. I'm too am looking for some miracle product that can make my skin truly "even".

They have a cleanser, toner and lotion that are doing wonders for me so far!
Its fairly expensive...but seems to be worth it!

I have the same problem where as soon as I get out of the shower I have to moisturize with Clinique dramatically different moisturizer otherwise my skin tightens up as it dries out. Then during the day my skin will get oily. My breakouts are usually cylical, except for the ones along my chin line, those come at any time of the month and are such a pain! I use a benzoyl peroxide tinted cream to treat those and try to cover them up a little bit. I'll also use the St. Ives apricot scrub about once every other week just to exofoliate and keep my skin from not flaking too much. I haven't found the answer to our problems yet though so I'm watching for suggestions. :-)

I thought that my skin was dry AND oily, but I talked to the lay at the Clinique counter, and she said that I might just need to exfoliate. I tried it and it seemed to help! Now my skin is just oily... lol
