Default Anyone else have really fast metabolism?

I've always had really fast metabolism. I'm 29 years old, 5'7'' and about 128 pounds. I've always been able to eat whatever I want and not gain weight. When I was 10 or 11 the doctor said I was slightly underweight for my height, and I ate a lot back then, too. I eat more than my husband, and he's gained weight since we got married 6 years ago, and I haven't. And I'm the one who's had 2 kids! Both times I was pregnant I only gained about 20 pounds, and I ate all the time.

I'm wondering, could this be related to PCOS? Do thin cysters tend to have fast metabolism? And if it is related to PCOS, why is that, especially when most women with PCOS are overweight? Or could it be because I'm tall?

When I was young (<18), I had a super fast metabolism. I was a twig, 100lb 5'4", no matter what I ate.

Now I'm a better weight, 120lb. I've got a normal layer of fat and my slight tummy pudge refuses to go away. My metabolism is not super fast anymore. I have to be somewhat careful about what I eat to maintain my weight.

Just curious, have you ever had your thyroid checked? I think an overactive thyroid can contribute to a fast metabolism

I am 5'2 and weigh 93lbs. I have always had a fast metabolism. No matter what I do I cant gain weight. I have lean pcos and am 27. I was there was more info out there for lean pcos. none of the dietary treatments for pcos will help me I just lose more weight. I have had my thyroid checked in the past but it has always been borderline normal. so I don't know what gives. I am also the only thin one in my entire family. my cousin has pcos also and got pregnant with donor IVF. she is overweight also. so I dont really know much about it despite looking everywhere

Do you regularly check PubMed? I think you can even set an alert for specific terms like "lean pcos"

I've had my thyroid checked many times, and it's always normal. I actually thought I might have an *underactive* thyroid, since my cycles are so long. If I had an overactive thyroid, my cycles would actually be short. It turns out my long cycles were due to PCOS. It really doesn't make any sense why I have such a fast metabolism, since most people with PCOS are overweight. I thought it might be something that's common among thin cysters.

yeah mine is always fast and I have regular bleeding I just don't ovulate. I get a bleed every28-36 days well for the last three years or so.they were very wacky before w tried TTC the first time around. I have started taken metformin again thanks to my doctor. At least he gave me another meds to help with the side effects of the metformin. but weight gain is also important with me and with my metabolism I am not sure that I can

Yes - I've always been thin - I can eat a ton without gaining anything. When I was 9 or 10 my doctor also said i was underweight. My mom fed me whole milk, ovaltine, desserts, etc but it didn't make too much of a difference. I'm 5'6" and 120 now...
