Default Anyone else have spells of severe vertigo..

with vomiting. I have been having these spells for about 4 yrs. Ever since I was dx'd with hashi's hypo. I never know when I may get one. It can last a few hours to a whole day It totally wipes me out, all I can do is lay in bed and pray for the world to stop spinning. I have probably had over a dozen attacks the latest was yesterday. I have seen a dr for it a few months ago but she didn't seem to interested just said keep track of before the symptoms happen. duh I don't know when the symptoms will happen. The only thing I can think is I have been bad about taking my Levo. and maybe when my TSH goes up. Just wondereing if anyone else has any symptoms like this. It's more than just a little dizzy. It's like riding the tilt whirl while being totally intoxicated.

There have been times when I have gotten dizzy when I've had to go off my Synthroid, but nothing like you have described. It almost sounds like you have an inner ear infection. When I have gotten one, then same thing happened. That is really strange that your doctor brushed your off like that! I really dislike it when doctors do that...if that happens, I fire them and get a new one! Thankfully, that's only happened twice! You may want to look into finding a new doc...was it an RE, your family doc, or some one else?

Thanks for the reply. I am going to the dr. on Friday. Dh is going with me to explain to her what it is like for me and how often I have it. I don't know why but I feel like she thinks I'm exaggerating my symptoms. So I feel like I have to bring a witness. This will only be the third time I have seen her so I'm still getting used to her. But if she keeps treating me skeptically, I'll be looking for a new Doc. She isn't the one who dx'd me for hashi hypo and PCOS. It was my gyno/OB. She is an internist not an RE. Maybe I should go back to him.

I was doing some research and it seems that some folks who have hashi's have had a higher incidence of vertigo. I'm going to keep researching.

Thanks again for the reply

I know exactly what you are talking about. When I was going through the adoption process we were getting ready to go on our first trip, as you can imagine I was pretty stressed out, about 4 days before I got vertigo - it lasted for 3 days!! I couldn't stand or walk without feeling like I was going to fall off the world. When I would lay in bed it would spin and I felt like I was going to fly off even though I was in the middle of the bed hanging on for dear life!!

I have also had several bouts of vertigo since then, but not lasting more then a day.

I have been diagnosed with PCOS and hypothyroidism - suspect hashi's(sister has it). The only time I get it is when I am stressing out about something.

Good Luck! Don't let the Dr. fluff it off...

This is so wierd. First I found out I was hyperthyroid, then PCOS, then a girl at work has had vertigo for almost a year, finally they diagnosed her as hyperthyroid.
I haven't had vertigo but the girl at work did, but she is hyper not hypo.
