Default Anyone else have unplanned pregnancies/no trouble getting pregnant?

I'm 28 and was diagnosed with PCOS two years ago. I take 1500 mg a day of metformin. I'm thin and my only symptom is very long cycles, ranging from about 45-90 days, which I've had ever since I first got my period. I was diagnosed based on the LH/FSH ratio. Since I've started taking metformin, my cycles have been closer to 45 days.

My husband and I have a 4-year-old daughter and we're expecting a second in January. Both pregnancies were surprises. Our daughter was conceived before I knew I had PCOS. The second was conceived after I started metformin.

It seems like I'm the only one here who hasn't had fertility problems. Even the thin cysters seem to have trouble getting pregnant. I'm wondering, is there anyone else who had no trouble conceiving or who even had a surprise? Do you think I might have a milder form of PCOS? I don't have any symptoms except very long cycles. Is it possible I'll have trouble conceiving in the future as I get older, if we decide we want more children? Thanks.

My first daughter was conceived while I was on Metformin. It took about 7 months or so to work, but I conceived the very first time I ovulated and on a relatively low dose of Metformin. I was completely surprised, since I wasn't even trying to get pregnant or checking for ovulation or anything. My second daughter was a completely different story. My children are 4 years apart because it took so long to get pregnant the second time around. The Metformin did not work, even at a higher dose, and I had to add in other meds to get pregnant. It took close to a year and a half. So, yes, it is possible your condition will worsen and you will have trouble in the future. With as long as your cycles are, my guess is that you got very, very lucky. If you want more children, I would consider having them sooner rather than later.

I agree that it seems to get worse with age. In my early 20s I ovulated every once in a while. Now in my 30s I don't ovulate at all without stimulating drugs. But some women just respond well to Met (didn't help me at all), and that's all it takes. I know of at least one other thin cyster on here who got pg with all 3 of her kids after being on Met for 3 months or so each time.

I' have 3 friends with confirmed PCOS (I have it too). Only one has weight problems, the other two don't. All three managed to conceive naturally without help and had healthy baby girls. All three were in their early thirties. One of them is now trying for a second one since April and it's taking a bit longer. She's exploring natural hormonal therapy with progesterone.
