Default Was anyone else on met for more than 6 weeks before seeing results?

Hi, I have been on met since July 3rd. (almost 6 weeks). I worked up to 1000 mg about 3 weeks ago. I fel better in the way that I feel after I eat, but so far there is no sign of AF and I am having no hormonal changes as far as I can tell. I was really hoping to see AF since she hardly ever comes around. I was in the INS-1 study for the new PCOS drig before this for 9 months and it took about 2 months for me to start having results on that, but I had a visit from AF every 30 days on that drug! I was hoping to have the same with met, but no such luck yet.

My question is this: Has anyone else had this? Did anyone else take awhile to have any response? How long did it take for you to respond? After you began to see AF, did she come regularly? I need alittle encouragement, but mayeb this just isn't working for me. I am going to be upping my dose to 1500 this week. Maybe 1000 is not enough?

Default results?

It has taken me a year to see results. Ive been on
met for a year this september and I'm just now
losing 10 lbs. And my body fat is dropping too
not just the lbs. But my hair is thinning out way too much.
I hope that stops soon. I used to have thick
hair. It's extremely thin now. I can hardly stand it.
I hope they come out with something soon that
cures that problem.

It can take up to six months to a year to actually kick in.
Just be patient.

Smile It takes time

I have been on met since April and like you I had to wait a while before it kicked in It finally started in June, and I have been losing some weight, but i am also experiencing hair thinning.

Also I had no AF until I started taking the Pill again, but that took 2 months to happen too. I wanted it to work straight away and expected to see amazing results, I understand from the information that I have read that it can take from 6 months to a year to kick in....so I wish you luck and hope you soon see some results.

Thanks for your repsonse... I'm not really trying to lose any weight; I am a thin cyster. I am ttc and was hoping the met would help AF to come. Im supposed to try clomid again after being on met to help regulate my periods. I really wish AF would show up!!

Exclamation It can be frustrating

kittycat

I can undestand that you are frustrated, mine didnt show up for five months and I have never been so pleased to see it. I am sure it will come and I hope the clomid will work.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

Hi there!
I started on 500mg of met on July 1st and am still waiting for AF too. I upped my dosage to 1500mg after about a week and a half plus started AF with provera on 7/11 so now I am on day 31 and waiting. My hope/prayer is that I'm pg and that's why it hasn't come yet but...from reading the replies already posted I see that it took awhile for others to get regular too. Good luck! Crystal

I have been on the drug just over a year...it was 3 months before I got my periods, and they still are irregular at times. It takes a while for the drug to build up in your system and start working.

All the best TTC!

Here's my 2 cents 2....

I have been on Glucophage for going on 2 months now and no sign of AF . I was looking forward to it but nothing! I did spot and even got a little excited but nothing to really get "excited" about. So I have called to shedule the blood test and to talk to a nurse to see if they can give me provera or something to make me start and have AF. Anyway as far as the weight loss nothing that I can see although my appetite is way down except for one week out of the month and I think it is my invisible symptoms of AF I have all the symptoms just no AF!!! Weird I know but sooner or later it has to get better right

Default It took months...

It took me between four and six months to see results on the met- during that time, I raised my dose (over 1 month) from 500mg to 1500mg.

I started regular periods about four months after starting the met.

I started Gluc in the end of Feb and I got my first AF on it the end of May. I got another af 29 days later in June-and I did ovulate too!, but haven't seen her since-BUT I haven't been real good about taking my Gluc(I take 2 850 mg tablets a day) I've missed a lot of doses-my dh had knee surgery and was home recuperating for a month and I got way off schedule. I think if I get back to taking my pills regularly I would probably start ovulating and get af again.

Hang in there! I too am a "thincyster" and started met 1000mg/day in Feb. It took seven weeks for AF to arrive. I was fortunate enough to get pregnant during the following cycle (my dates reveal I conceived on about day 23).
I hope this gives you some reassurance and that it may also work for you. Good luck.

Hi, My Dr. prescribed 3 mo BCP (Levelin) along w/Met so that my body adjusted b/4 I TTC. This is my 1st month off of BCP and so far things are going well.

I used to be on Met back in 8/00... I was taking 1500 mgs/day and my cycles became like clockwork (30 days). It was beautiful. Unfortunately, I had to get off of it for a minute due to a reaction w/another drug.

Back on since 3/02 so far so good. Of course my cycles came like clockwork while on the pill. Today I'm on CD 21.
