I take 2000mg of Metformin a day, and I don't have ANY side-effects. None.
Soooo, afer sifting through this thread, I am starting to worry that maybe Met isn't working? Does side-effects=working? I feel like there is something wrong with me. Why don't I feel any side-effects while on 2000mg/day.
Anyone else in a similar situation?

Wow, maybe your body simply adjusted quickly. I'm only on 1000 mg, and I gradually increased to that level. After the first month, I don't feel the side effects too much anymore, but I've read that others have experienced worse side effects and for longer. Everyone just reacts to medicines differently.
I have simple hatred for the fact that everyone with PCOS is different on everything.... Just FYI I can confirm for me that side effects mean it's not working - I was on 2000mg for 14 mos and never got AF.... trying again now and I'm only at 1500mg and adding acupuncture. Endo and acup are very hopeful as I dive into twice a week acup treatments next week. I think you're lucky to be on 2kmg and not have any side effects - but don't rule out that it's not working, just give it time - do you have labs checked and see if testosterone level is heading back closer to normal if it's been high? I'm stupid high on no drugs and acup alone was helping it get back closer to norm as met was doing but still never bringing on AF. So again for me, thinking and hoping this combo will work. I still don't see why it's such a hard question to just ask to get a stupid period EVER.

I really don't think no s/e indicate it's not working. I started on 1000mg and no side effects at all. Just give it some time and get the bloodwork after a while - then you'll know!
no side effects just means you're lucky not to have any side effects
Hi. I take 2000mg of metformin a day as well. I take the extended release. I think I've been on it for nearly five years, and I've never had side effects. Just consider it a good break. :-)

I had blood work done not too long ago. My testosterone was mildly elevated. Mind you, when blood was drawn, I had only been on the higher dose of 2000mg for around a month. My T could be less now. I don't know.
I just wish I would get AF every month. I wish so much I could know what it's like to ovulate and have a cycle and know what's going on. This sucks

I have not really had any side effects either. I had a little GI distress the first day and I have had an upset stomach a few times. The met has done great things for me. I have only been on it for about a month. I have lost 10 pounds my acne is gone. My facial hair has thinned/slowed. I'm not loosing as much hair. My mood has improved. Even my feet are not as rough and dry as the have always been.
