Hi Cysters!
I am new here, I have heard great things about you ladies! I was wondering if anyone has issues with passing out??? I have had two Dr's say it has nothing to do with my PCOS and one say it may. So I am off to the neurologist. I tend to believe it has something to do with the PCOS because my sister used to have the same problem and she has PCOS too. Any insite is appreciated!

Just wanted to say Welcome to Soul Cysters!!!
I have had only this happen once that I didn't know why and it happened at my NP's office.I found out I was suffering with Anemia due to blood loss. The other times where because of the blood pressure meds I was on. It would drop my BP to low and out I would go.
I don't know if this is any help but you might want to ask your Dr to test you iron and see if that could be it. Best of luck to you and if you need anything look me up.
Please also keep us updated on what is going on.

Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) can cause you to pass out, and some people with PCOS have trouble regulating their sugar levels, so that is one (of many) possible answers.
I had this problem when I was going through puberty - especially around my period. Since then I occasionally will get the feeling like I may pass out (usually on hot days when I haven't had enough water). When I get the feeling I just sit down somewhere until it passes and then have some water.

I passed out once, but came very close to it happening once before that. I was on cd 1 and the cramps were really bad. I passed out in the shower. Before that it was the same situation, cd 1 of af, but I wasn't in the shower, so I went to lay down. I asked the doc about it a while later and she said (in my case), it was just the body's natural response to severe pain, plus the fact that I was standing in a hot shower. I think because I was standing, the blood pools in your legs and feet, leaving your brain. Not sure if the hot water contributed (can't remember!). After all that, when I came to (and now sore from falling!), I threw up a couple times. The doc said that was related to the pain and passing out as well.
My sister used to pass out as a teenager, I think she may have been anemic or something. It doesn't happen to her anymore, though.

I used to pass out in junior high. Like bethers, usually around my period. I've always attributed it to low blood sugar. Sometimes I still get dizzy, but it's usually the heat.

Quick tip: If you feel faint lie down. You won't pass out/faint if you are lying down. You can still pass out if you are sitting down (I passed out on the toilet once as a teenager - ouch and yuck!)

Do you just pass out or do you get any weird feelings or anything before? Because I have seizures where I black out. But I get a very odd feeling before hand I know it's fixing to happen. There's just nothing I can do about it. And I recently read on the internet where it can be PCOS related. Check this out ---> http://www.drdonnica.com/fastfacts/00004292.htm
I, too, pass out a lot. Several years ago, the drs told me it was probably an inner ear problem, something to do with my equalibrium. They came to that conclusion after accussing me of becoming anorexic to lose weight. But, most of the time it has to do with me standing to long and getting over heated. I was dx with Orthostatic Hypotention, which is basically a sudden drop in blood pressure, kind of like standing to fast. To find out have your blood pressure measured while standing, sitting, and laying down. If there is a big difference, then you probably have it.
My sister has a condition called vasovagal syncope and she passes out a lot.

Hi, I used to get this a lot when i was younger (12 onwards)and it would happen to me every week. I always new when it was about to happen as i would start feeling strange, my vision would start dissapearing, like someone taking the pieces out of a puzzle, then my hearing would go, i'd get a sudden cold sweat, my vision would disappear compleatly and i'd pass out. I told my doctor about this when he first diagnosed me with pco but he just told me they were blackouts and left it at that. As i've got older they happen less and less. I looked it up on the internet and the only satisfactory explanation i could find was that there is some kind of blood pressure sensor in your legs, and when your blood pressure drops, the blood cannot return to your heart fast enough and so you pass out.
Sorry this is a bit long but i'm just glad to have finally found people that experience this also!
I have a similer problem. I fainted for the first time just after my son was born (also the same time PCOS symptoms started showing up in a bundance). I've been fainting more and more often until now in the last 3 months I faint 3 out of 7 days. I say fainting but the truth is I just kind of black out and get tunnel vission and hearing, I just colaps and have to lie where I fell for up to a minute. I can hear a bit of what's going on arround me but just cant respond or move until it passes. I can also feel when there about to happen, My head gets cloudy and confused I feel wierd all over and I can't walk straight (feels like I'm drunk).
I haven't been able to find out what it is yet. I'm glad I'm not alone in this though, good luck to all you ladies!!

I have only ever passed out once that I know of. My husband and I were out at a really nice dinner for our anniversary. He said that I slumped again the wall that was luckily next to me and started sorta gurgling. It was a scary experience.
Thank you all very much for the reply's and the welcomes! I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one!!! Some of you said the exact same things I told the doctor were happening. I can't believe it is so similar. I can't wait to say "See...I told you it had to do with PCOS!!!" Thank you all very much!
