I just started taking lo/ovral bcp sunday after being completely free of bcp's for over a year. Can someone tell me if shaking as if your cold, dizzyness, crying for no reason, and generally feeling blah...Are these common with this pill. I don't know if my body is re-adjusting to these new levels in my body. (I have high testosterone levels). Let me know if there are any solutions. Thanks in advance. Have a great day.

Do you know anyone who lives in Canada, Australia, the UK who would want to be in on a ground floor opportunity? If so, please let me know who they are!

So far, Lo/Ovral was the only BCP that didn't cause breakthrough bleeding for me. However, it did cause me to feel like I'm living life underwater, killed my libido and caused all-over dryness. I just started my fourth BCP today (Yasmin) to see if I can find one that doesn't cause breakthrough bleeding but also doesn't make me feel "not right" and very detached.
The nurse in my gynecologist's office said that she too felt the blahs on lo/ovral. She switched to Ovcon, which she loves. From an emotional and libido standpoint I too loved Ovcon, but after three months I still had double cycles on it (one week clear, one week bleeding), so it had to go.
However, I'm not sure that I felt the blahs so quickly on Lo/Ovral. I think your potential for feeling out of whack in general is increased any time you start a new pill. I would give it at least two cycles before you chuck it.
My doctor's office just put me on this (yesterday, in fact). I will watch for the side-effects you mentioned. I asked for Seasonale, but they told me this was just like it (?)... I'm not understanding how, if anyone can explain.
I needed to do something to delay a period for a vacation we scheduled, plus I've been having horrendous periods (10 days) and severe PMS again (dehabilitating cramping that feels like someone is scraping my insides out with a knife - I lay curled up for two days a month).

I was on Lo-Ovral years and years ago but I was taken off it because my gyn thought it might have been what cause me to gain so much weight. I wasn't paying as much attention as I should have to how it made me feel but I did have significant weight gain, terrible acne, and probably the "blahs" some of the time. I agree that you should give it a few cycles and see if things get better. Good luck and I hope your "blahs" go away!

I only took this pill for one month. I did gain weight (even though I ate well and exercised more than normal). I also seemed to be even more emotional than normal and it caused a few ugly moments at home.
My question now is, since I stopped this pill, when will I begin my AF? I didn't take the sugar pills (last regular BCP was last Monday). I haven't begun bleeding at all yet. I'm starting to get concerned as I had been bleeding heavily, and for 9 -10 days before taking this BCP.

I'm surprised you're being prescribed Lo/Ovral with a PCOS diagnosis. It's highly androgenic and not usually recommended for women with PCOS due to side effects of the syndrom like Hirsutism and Acne. Do some online research and decide for yourself. My new RE prescribed it for me, I went home and looked it up and then called her back because I was concerned. She said, "Oh, yeah, um...ok, how about (some other pill)?" And THAT pill was known to manifest androgenic side effects as well. I couldn't believe she wasn't aware of these things. I finally asked for one I had thought would be OK and she called it in.
I was very dissatisfied with her after that! I switched over to another doctor in the practice and saw him just yesterday. The pill I'd basically prescribed for myself was making me too BLAH! So, he suggested Yasmin, but I take 200mg of Spiro daily and thought it would be too much. He said no, but sensed I was uncomfortable and prescribed me Mircette, which has a lower dose of estrogen and a different progesterone. I'm thinking of calling him back and asking for YAZ.
