i had a d&c this past tuesday bc of my heavy prolonged bleeding, dr said i should see some bleeding, but it will be light and should only last a day or two, well i know it hasn't been all that long since surgery, but i am still bleeding heavy with a few blood clots and my stomach is cramping horribly..i was just wondering if anyone else here ever had a d&c and what their experience was..i'm still taking my bcp so that should slow down the bleeding as well..i go see the dr monday..i wonder what else they will be able to do to stop the bleeding if this don't work..i took provera for 10 days and that stopped my bleeding i was also wondering if that can be taken for a prolonged time to stop the bleeding...ugh..i'm just so aggrevated and tired of bleeding and tired of taking pain meds, cause all it does is make me a major b*tch to my husband who is only trying to help.. i'm tired of being like this...alsdkfaoiyglsdkf...sorry..that was just a lil frustration i had to let out...this site has helped me so much!! thanks to all!!!

I had a D & C due to a 5 month period. I had bleeding that night but it was completely gone by the next day. I think you should call your Dr. Better safe than sorry.

I had a D&C when I was 18 in November of my freshman year of college. I had it for basically the same reason but actually I had stoped bleeding the day I went in to see a doctor and was scheduled for a D&C for the very next day. However, after my D&C. i did have some slghtly heavy bleeding(not clots that i remember but I may be wrong about that) but anyways I bleed for probably a little over a week. Like the length of what is supposed to be a "normal" period. I also had a lot of cramping. Pretty bad cramping. I was in a lot of pain. I remember I had it on the 18th i think and i flew home for Thanksgiving and I remember I had a hard time traveling. I just felt really weak. I hope you feel better soon! Definitely call the doctor if you feel something is not right. YOu know your body better than anyone else. GooD LUCK. let us know what happens.
oh yeah . how long were you bleeding before you D&C? I hadn't had a period since July of '05 and a doctor put me on provera for like five days and i went five wholes days and started my period(this was in early october) i also started birth control. I bleed until Nov. 16, HEAVY HEAVY HEAVY BLEEDING! not a break at all. probably the worse. let me know.
thanks guys, i'm getting alot of mixed things, i guess ppl just heal differently..of course they do..lol..so i will wait til monday to talk to the dr..god knows i can't afford another hospital bill..all they will tell you is to follow up w your reg dr anyways..it's been about 2 mnths since me and my hubby..um...you know..and i'm going crazy!!!!!!!!! well, thanks ladies, you've been helpful!!

Gosh, I'm so sorry to hear that you have been going through this. I had a D&C done b/c of heavy bleeding about 3 yrs. ago. I had light bleeding for a few days after and then it stopped. When the bleeding started again the DR put me on BCP's and had me take two everyday for a week and then went to one for the rest of the pack. I hope your DR is able to find out what's causing the bleeding, let us know!

i went to the dr today..still bleeding heavy w stomach cramps that make me wanna punch somebody..lol..my last two options are shots, Depo Provera, or Luverine (sp?) he said the DP may stop my bleeding, he thought i should go w the luverine, but that is $500 a month..even though i have great ins., its not a gtd. that it would cover it..so i told him provera had stopped my bleeding, so he said the dp should stop it, if not he would call my ins and tell them the problems i'm having so they can get it covered..if the dp or the other shot don't work, the only other option is hysterectomy that's scary..i want kids, my husband wants kids so badly..it's just ssssssssoooooo aggervating...so hopefully the shot will work..so pray that it will so i don't have to go through a hyst.

Please do NOT let this DR scare you into thinking if it doesn't stop you will need a hysterectomy. If the prescription doesn't work please go get a second opinion. There has to be something else besides a hyst. A few months after my d&c I started bleeding again but this time it was extremely heavy, to the point where I was hemorraging. I went to the ER practically pouring blood (sorry TMI). They did all kinds of tests and couldn't figure out the reason. They gave me provera and it stopped and has never happened since, so don't give up!!! Hang in there!
