I spent part of last night at the ER because of EXTREME lower pelvic pain - mostly, I thought, uterine. Two shots of painkillers, including demerol, and it subsided. but they did a bunch of tests and then my doc today said that the u/s showed fluid between my vagina and rectum - possibly from a burst ovarian cyst. Anyone ever go through this? The pain was AWFUL - so bad I threw up. I am hoping it's just a passing thing and will never happen again, but the more I learn about PCOS the more I dread my future with this disease.
I don't post much but I have deffinatly had this same thing happen to me 3 times this year. Once the cyst wouldn't burst and I had to have emergency sugery. Before this year I hadn't had this problem but with TTC and not being on BCP I get huge cysts that burst all the time. BCP help to make your ovaries not over stimulate. I don't know if you are TTC but this could be an option. I know exactly how you felt though. It is the worst pain I have every had. I hope that you feel better. You will probably be sore for a couple of days but it should go away. If you need any more info or have more questions you are welcome to e-mail me at meljon0331@msn.com.
I had a cyst burst in December and WOW did it hurt. I was having pains all week and finally the pain got to an excrutiating level and I went to the ER at 4am. I had fever, cold chills, on the verge of vomitting. It was the worst pain I ever had. The pain subsided after several hours and I had no problems since. I am a lil scarced about when I have another right ovary O, cuz I don't know if its a problem with that ovary or just one of those things. This was the only time in 18 years of AF that I have had a burst cyst and I hope I never have it again!
Hope you're feeling better!

Nice to know I am not alone on this one. Hopefully it will never happen again - I am better but very tired (I also have a cold! YAY me!) and in answer to those questions - I am not TTCing at the moment and am actually on BCP (low-ogesterol kind) but I only just started it so I wondered if that had something to do with it. Oh, well, we'll see how it all plays out I guess.
BelleMere - I hope you're feeling better with your cold!
I had a cyst burst just before Xmas. I've been TTC and was on to my 3rd IUI cycle. The u/s before the actual insemination showed a cyst 20x37mm which they figured was left over from the previous cycle. They went ahead with the insemination after being triggered with Profasi (no natural LH surge).
About 5 days later I woke up about 5am in the most excruciating pain. I couldn't believe the agony I was in. I went all hot and sweaty and felt like I was going to vomit, then freezing cold. My DH was all set to take me to ER but I refused to get out of bed. I couldn't stand up with the pain. Then it started to go away. It took about 3/4 hour, but by then I could lie straight in bed.
When I woke up again I felt really out of it and kinda bruised. I rang the dr (it was a Saturday) and she said it was unlikely to be an ectopic pg so soon, but was more likely to be the cyst bursting. She told me to put a hot water bottle on it, take it easy for the day and if I got a temp, felt really achy or starting vomiting I was to ring her ASAP and she'd arrange for the local hospital to do an u/s. She said that in 99% of cases the cyst bursts, you're in pain then you're OK. But in that last 1% the cyst can start bleeding and then you're in trouble.
Since then, no problems. Seems to be an occupational hazard though. Hope no-ones having any lasting problems.

Wow lol can i relate or what. Yes i have had several cysts burst and they hurt like hell. I seem to never have any without needing percocet or some painkiller to numb the pain. Unfortunately and maybe fortunately too, i always know when I have a cyst even before it bursts because they always cause a lot of pain just from being there. But when they finally give out...lets just say thank god for pain killers lol. I am sorry to know that others have cysts that hurt just as bad. I wish they would just go away altogether but I know that is wishful thinking.
