Default Anyone ever try Vaniqua?

I've seen the ads, but wonder if it really works. I currently shave, which is awful, and I wish I'd never started, but I was 16, had no clue then I had PCOS and had a jerky bf who made fun of me... back then I shaved once or twice a week... now I need to do it twice a day!

I'm wondering if Vaniqua works and if you can still shave while using it...

thanks!

Elen~~ Hey.. That sounds just like me! I was around the same age (17) and had the same experience with a bf and a lot of questions from other "friends" I felt like a freak, and had no idea why I was doing this but neither my mom or my other sisters ( who were older had this problem ) and my mom would take me to the doctor but they weren't familiar with pcos, so I didn't actually dx with pcos until 2004, that was one of the very first things my new doctor prescribed me was vaniqua. It is kinda expensive but I thought it would be worth it if I didn't have to shave anymore. But unfortantly that wasn't the case. I tried it for a couple of months, but since I had been shaving for so long, it burned that area of skin.. ( I also have really sensitive skin ) it did slow the growth down some.. I just couldn't handle the irratation. I would say, if you think like me, anything is worth a shot, all you can do is try it and see how it reacts with your skin! Good luck

hey girls -- i have had the same issue most of my life - i waxed for years - i tried the vaniqua but i didnt find i had great results but i also tried it when it was first put on the market so i am considering give it another try -- i found the best results i had were from laser hair removal - i only shaved because you need to for the laser - you guys should ask about aladactone -- i find that when im taking it my hair growth is much less

aladactone or spiraldactone is a medication (pill form) that does something to the hormones that helps slow or eliminate the growth and thickness of the hair - i am a huge fan --

I'm glad I read this because I saw the ad on tv as well. I was really interested and I won't really know till I try it but it doesn't sound like its as great as the ads say. Anything sounds good though, compared to waxing...tired of it.

Something else to keep in mind about Vaniqua, is that your insurance won't cover any portion of the cost. It's a TINY tube, and as I recall, it's kind of pricey.

Hi.
I had the same problem. I started plucking the hair when I was about 16. I did so up until May of this year. It got to where I had to pluck 2 times a day! My face felt raw all the time.

I finally decided to go for laser hair removal. I found a place that charges you for 5 treatments, and even if it takes 10 times those extra treatments are free. If I need touch-ups, they are free for life.

I have had 2 treatments so far and have seen about a 50% hair loss. My complexion is clearer. You have to shave during the treatments, with no plucking. It really isn't that bad. You only have a little bit of darkness on your skin from the roots dying out and hair shafts closing up for a few days after each treatment.

After my first treatment I only had a little reduction, but after the second, it was noticeable. You have to go every 10 weeks, until the hair is gone.

My hair growth was very dark and thick. If you have dark hair and pale skin it works best.

I highly recommend it. It is pricey, but well worth every penny I have paid for so far. I was on Spirnolactone and it didn't do a thing for the hair growth.

I hope this helps you.

I am so glad i saw this post...i saw the ad on tv and couldnt remember the name of it cause i was to lazy to get up and write it down. I am taking spiro and have for about a year and a half and really do like it....when i get hair though i get hair so i wanted to try this and see...its gotta be worth a shot! Sally Hansen has a great facial hair remover that comes in a little purple tube and is only like $5...be sure to look in the box cause there is a $1 off coupon before you make the trip to the check out. You should try it...it does not burn and it comes with a cream to put on afterwards, i put tea tree oil on the places where i used it to help also.
thanks ladies!

Vaniqa is a GREAT product. I have been using it since the last week of August on my neck and chin area. Since then I have only had to wax once! I was very hesitant at first to purchase it because it was not covered by insurance and it was around $70 but I decided to try it just to see if it worked. Not only has it been working for me but I have had the same tube for almost 2 months now! I wouldn't be surprised if it lasts me well into November. So technically if it lasts me 3 months it doesn't even end up being $25/month!!! So I urge the women who have a problem with facial hair to try it! I never shaved my face so my facial hair was not really thick but it was dark and 'wirey' feeling.
Good luck!

Kristina

I didn't have much success with Vaniqua. I understand that you have to use it for a while to see any effects - I ended up trying laser.

Paid out of pocket 4 it as it wasn't covered by my insurance and I guess I'm inpatient but it didn't seem to work at all after about a month or so. Waste of money. I gave it the rest of the tube to my mom. It sucked. I think she has more patience than me. It's funny what commercials get you 2 buy.

I have just started Vaniqua. My Dr said that it takes 4-8 wks before results. It was 57.00 and insurance did cover part of it. I am trying to be optimistic and hope it works!
