Default Anyone experience WORSE side effects while on Met XR than on regular Met?

I'm new here....I was most likely diagnosed with PCOS on Friday (still waiting for one more test to come back to confirm), and was given a prescription for metformin (I won't be starting it until after one round of Provera, and after my bloodwork comes back this week).

I have been reading the posts here on Metformin and am kind of scared to begin taking it given all the side effects many people experience. However, it sounds like Met XR has less chance of side effects than regular Met. Did anyone experience worse side effects on Met XR than they did while on regular Met? I'm thinking of asking my doctor to write a prescription for the XR, but want additional information first.

Thanks!
Andrea

Honey, don't fear the drugs that can help you. Many women who dose up slowly and eat to keep their sugars controlled have minor or no problems, so you could be one of the lucky ones.

I had s/e for over a year because i didn't dose up or change my diet. Even with that experience, the drug was SO worth it. With diet and exercise, I have hit and maintained my goal weight, normalized my male hormones, normalized my cholesterol, and my periods are regular like clockwork. I finally get to be a girl!

Don't get frightened before you've seen how you respond and what it can do for you. Good luck!
