Unhappy Anyone feel like crap on Alesse?

Hi, everyone! After much debate, I decided to start taking Alesse a week ago. I had been on Yasmin after I had the boys, but felt terrible, so went off after 3 months. RE did some blood tests...everything came back normal, so she said I could try another BCP if I wanted. I picked Alesse based on some of the comments other cysters had made and the research I had done on it.

Well, I've been on it for 10 days and I feel like crap. No energy...like cannot get off the couch sluggish. Very foggy in the head (I even forgot to order myself lunch when I went into the fast food place yesterday...but remembered to order my husband something at least!). Pretty crabby. BAD acne (which I don't have when I'm on no BCPs). Does Alesse make anyone else feel like this? Does it get better if you take it for a few months?

I just don't know what to do...can I go off of it after 10 days? I know I didn't feel this way before I started. My RE thinks I'm crazy (she says that BCPs make PCOS go "into remission" and that my mood swings/feeling bad have nothing to do with the PCOS or hormones...I think I need a new RE). Anyway, any words of wisdom (or sympathy) would be appreciated. We are on vacation in a nice warm spot and I can't even enjoy it because I feel so terrible. Thanks...Amanda

I've been on Alesse for a year and a half now. When I was given the prescription my gyno told me to wait three months for the side effects to go away. I felt like crap for most of that time, I was sleepy, emotional (mood swings like you wouldn't believe!) and I had stomach pains, but now I have no problems. Don't worry it gets better! I'd wait until the three month period is over and if you still don't feel right I would try another BCP.

Alesse did well for me last summer. It is considered one of the low-estrogen bc pills, I went off of it because, as usual, my meds were not balanced and I was dealing with the endometriosis pain especially, which the Alesse made worse. I was on it for two cycles, and it really was great, no major unbearable side effects. On my way to the 3rd month, though, I started to get mood swings, that's when I found out that bc pills were just not agreeing with me. I had taken Demulen when I was with David, and then Ortho, then Alesse. I'm learning too, that it takes time for our bodies to adjust to any med. My obgyn told me that if I would have waited the first few days of Met out, I would have been fine, I believe him now.
Anyway, you said you did research on it, so you know what you're doin I say stick with it, and give it the full 3 months like nelly said, hope it gets better for you. I heard it really was one of the best bc pills out on the market. I think PCOS may go into "remission" when on the bcp is because they basically shut down your ovaries so no cysts can form like in PCOS (sure you knew that lol)

Feel better k.

i never liked alesse, a lot of pcosers dont. like i said in a different post before, i have been told by a doctor once that allesse has a small amount of a chemical that is bad for pcos persons and may even help elevate testosterone. now thats all they said, so dont take it as 100% true as they didnt say what the chemical was. only that it was a really small amount. so i guess its just something to think about :3
