Hi I am suppose to be on 1500 mg of met to be taken @ bedtime(extended release), and I have only been taking 1000mg but when I wake up in the morning I feel so nauseus, like i am going to be sick, it passes after I am awake for a while. But has anyone else experienced this, & what is it caused from??? Also it only started a month ago & I have been doing it this way for a few months.

Thanks in advance!!!

I feel nauseous in the am as well. I also have to vomit some mornings. I try not to take my Met too late at night. I find that it isn't as bad if I take it earlier in the evening. I really don't know what causes it.
I was actually taken off of it for 2 weeks and I am restarting it at a lower dosage and building back up to the 2000 I am supposed to be taking.

Chrissy, is there any chance you could be pg? It seems odd that you have been taking the met this way for a few months and only had the nausea for a month.

My doctor suggested taking the Met with dinner. Maybe that'll help because there will be more in your stomach.

i cant tell you how much $ i've spent on HPTs the last say 3 mths.. i get the same thing but i get it all day long - sometimes it just goes away on its own but other times i have to take tums to settle my stomach. Sorry to be so gross w/ this comment but If i give in and go lean over the potty i do puke...i try to just work around the naseu and sometimes i can tell the only way i will feel better is to let myself vomit. DH and i were talking about how somethings "gotta be wrong"...(i'm always the worry-wart in the marriage) he says maybe it's just kooky hormone levels for some reason. I have been on met awhile now and it has just started up like 3 mths ago-when it first started we thought it was from the met-then realized it was happened even before or hours after taking it. There was really no rhyme or reason to when it would happen. Lately i've been really struggling w/ eating low carb-and i thought maybe that had something to do w/ it-my body isn't use to all these carbs-but even if i go days watching carbs/sugar amounts eaten it happens. i am going visit the endo and see what she thinks-but it really is like morning sickness...even my dh was thinking it in between HPTs......i know what your going through-

Thanks for ur replies.
I know I am not pregnant, I think it may be due to not lo-carbing & having a ton of sugar/carbs before I go to sleep. What do u girls think??? I just am scared I am harming my liver & that was a sign of it, any thoughts on that?

thanks again!

Did your Doc do liver enzymes first? If all was well with your enzymes prior to the met and they are tested regularly, then you'll be able to know if there is a problem in your own situation. My Dr tests mine every 6 months.

Good luck!

Hmm, I felt a little queasy in the AM the fist & second day after starting at 500mg, and again the same thing happened when I upped to 1000mg. I also had more bathroom urgency for a couple of days as well. Other than that I have been fine. Tonight I up to 1500mg so I'll let you know if it happens again!

BTW is 1500mg usually the "magic number" so to speak? I've read this is the minimum theraputic dose. My doctor wanted me to start slow on the XR and build up to avoid S/E. Seems to have worked!

Don't know if anyone is still reading this thread, but just thought I would pop in and say I have definitely been feeling nauseas almost every single day since I upped to 1500 about 2.5 weeks ago. It usually happens about 1-2 hours after I wake up, and sometimes again in the afternoon and lasts anywhere from 5-15 minutes. I never puke (sorry that's gross) but sometimes I really feel like it!
Either it started to wear off recently or my idea of eating a south beach bar in the morning about an hour after getting up has helped b/c for the past 2 days I have not really felt it. If anyone still has this problem maybe give that a try!
