Default Anyone get a BFP on just 500mg Met?

So I finally took the plunge and started met. My ob/gyn has me on 500mg and it doesn't sound like she's upping it any time soon. It sounds like she thinks the 500 alone will work - I'm not so sure. I'm just curious if anyone has found 500mg to be enough to help regulate things and finally get a BFP??

I DO see her again in about 7 weeks, but I don't want to have to wait 2 months between upping by 500mg!! That would take FOREVER. I'm not going to be this age forever and I'd like to have a baby sometime soon! ...just getting frustrated is all.

You're still young so you have time to see if Met does the trick for you. It didn't work for me though, i was on 500 mgs and still am. I was on Met 500 mgs for about six months until my doc referred me to reproductive endo since I had been ttc for awhile. Through all the testing, we discovered a blocked fallopian tube and that my husband has MFI.

Hopefully the Met will work for you. Just give it some time.

I've been told doses under 1500mg are more or less useless. They do however slowly increase the dose so that the side effects aren't so bad. I started at 1000mg, a month later 1500mg, then a year later when the 1500mg wasn't doing much 2000mg. I'm being increased to 2550mg in 2 weeks. Just see if it does anything, if not, ask about a dose increase in 7 weeks. Are you IR?

Yeah, see that's what I've always known/thought - is that you need at least 1500mg to do anything (but more often than not, 2000mg), which is why I'm concerned that it appears she just wants to leave me on the 500.

I understand that they usually gradually work up to it. I'm VERY familiar with the metformin drug. The thing is, it sounded like she had NO plans of increasing it for at least the next year. I *think* I remember her saying something like "well, we'll try this for a year or so and see if anything will happen." I DO NOT want to wait a whole more year just to see if 500mg is going to change anything.

I'm definitely going to ask if I can increase my dose at my next visit, but I think I'm going to ask if I should/could work right up to 1500 at least.

And yes, I understand that I'm only 26 and "have time" to find out what works. I get that. BUT, my dream is also to have four children. I wanted my first baby when I was 23/24, so I'm already at least 2 years behind. I'd prefer, if possible, to have most of my children when I'm young. But yes, people always tell those of us under 35ish that we "have lot of time." Thanks.
