Default Anyone got pregnant with Prometrium?

This is the 2nd time in a row I am on Prometrium as well as Metformin (500mg for now) and I am having lower back pains, lower stomach pains and spotting for the last two days but no period.

Has anyone ever got pregnant with Prometrium? Does Prometrium help with with ovalution?

Hi Anita. I have some info/experience on Prometrium, but don't quote me on anything! Prometrium is basically pregesterone which is meant to build up your lining so you can shed it, thus having a period. It has nothing to do with ovulation. for some people, taking Prometrium kickstarts their ovulation and they O the next month on their own. For me, this didn't work, and I basically just took the Prometrium so I could get AF and time my Clomid appropriately. You should get AF within 10-14 days of finishing your last pill, if not during the course of meds. Good luck!

Hi, I didn't read the other post but... I did use prom. As far as I know, it has nothing to do with O. I took it after I "knew" I O'ed in order to help maintain my lining and keep me from shedding it. At about day 31-35 of my cycle I would test and if no BFP I would stop the prom. so I could get a period and start again. When I got my BFPs I continued to take prom. til 12wks. HTH. Good luck.

I got pregnant with my now 2-year-old while taking Prometrium to start AF for my first medicated cycle...but AF never came. No spotting, nothing. I did, however, spot in early pregnancy -- probably during weeks 6 to 8. Prometrium doesn't necessarily suppress ovulation, given that I definitely ovulated the first day or two that I was taking it, but it is progesterone --the dominant hormone during the luteal phase of the menstrual cycle (which occurs after ovulation) and during pregnancy (the placenta stimulates progesterone production during pregnancy).

Prometrium didn't cause my ovulation, but it didn't prevent it either. My gyn made sure that I understood that it provided no pregnancy protection when he first prescribed it for me to bring on AF. Hope that helps!
