Default Anyone gotten a letter like this?

I have had BCBS in the past. I had it when I was dx w/ PCOS. I have ended up staying with them throgh an employer I had, later an employer my husband had, and even later a private policy. When our last policy ended (currently uninsured) then we got a letter in the mail stating that I do not have to state PCOS as a pre-existing condition if I apply for health insurance in the future.
Does that sound weird to anyone??? I was only on medication for about 6 months over 5 years ago.
Thanks!

That's probably why you got the letter. Since you didn't have much 'active' treatment...and then had NO treatment for over 5 years, it's not something you need to mention when applying for new insurance.

Keep the letter (in a vault) in case you need it later.

I haven't had any treatment for PCOS in nearly 8 years (maybe even 9-10), so I don't have to disclose PCOS, either. I think I mentioned it when I started a new job back in 2001, but even while under that policy, I didn't receive any treatment for pcos. When I got BCBS 'individual' coverage in 2006, I didn't mention it - there was no need, and I clearly hadn't been treated for anything remotely related to pcos. I had had surgery (that required hospitalization) for fibroids in 2005, but I guess fibroids aren't considered 'chronic'.
