My husband recently accepted a job up there, so we are in the process of moving right now. But of course, that means I need to find a new doctor. So I thought I'd see if there is anyone from that area that has any recommendations.
When we came to Red Deer, I had a hard time finding a doctor who would accept new patients...and it kills me to leave her. She's been a saint at getting things straightened out. I'm hoping I can find another female doctor...but I'm not picky hehe

Hey, i am in High Level about 4 hours north of GRande Prairie. But i grew up just 30 mins outside of the city. There are a couple good baby type doctors there... their names are Dr. Muir (obstren.gynclgst) and Dr. Moehler (Molar) (sp). Both are very good i have heard. I just looked in the phone book and cannot see dr Moehlers name there, maybe he is no longer there. Contact the QEII hospital and they should be able to tell you who to see.
Good Luck! And i hope you enjoy Grande Prairie!

Thradia~I went to Dr. Molnar when I was in GP. He's really good. There was supposed to be a female gyn who came to Grande Prairie, but all the guys chased her out! How awful is that? There could be a new one by now though. That was a few years ago.

I was given the name of a female doctor here who's been working with PCOS patients...
Oh hell..I can't find the paper with her name on it! lol I'll post it later.
But I met a guy who's daughter is being treated with PCOS by her and he said she's just wonderful. So I'm hoping I can get in to see her...knowing my luck though she wont' be taking new patients!

So here's the deal....i have a job offer from a company in Grande Prairie, i currently live (all my life) in NW Ontario...... DB just moved here a year a go and is in a job he absolutely loves!! he's only part - time unfortunealty, and work hrs. vary month to month....... The job offer appears to be a very amazing deal and job, and am very torn. Db doesn't feel that he could get a job out there in his field. So today i was on the GP website, and found a job posting for his field - a sign or what????
What to do?? What's great or not great about GP, sounds a lot like here only bigger!!
Thanks

Nature05~I loved GP when we lived there! We would actually like to move back there if the opportunity presents itself. If you're not really a city person, GP isn't that bad. DH and I are both farm people and we didn't go crazy. It's like the perfect size for a city. And it's set up really well. Pretty much everything you need or want is there.
Grande Prairie is great, has everything you could need. BUT it is seriously booming, almost impossible to find someplace to rent, and houses are very high priced. I would suggest looking for a house in one of the surrounding communities...Wembley, Beaverlodge, Hythe, Sexsmith, Rycroft, Clairmont,or Spirit River. You might get a better price and you would only have about a 30 min commute. Just an idea!

Today i spoke witht the prospective supervisor and asked me a few questions, said my resume was very good with my background. He said that i was on the 'short list" and they would get back to me early next week. I'm confused the other girl i talked said she was doing up the letter of offer! I wonder if i screwed up some how with him on the phone??? Arg....I'm not going to get my hopes up........
What do you think??
Thanks

No, i would say more than likely she wasn't supposed to tell you that they were writing up an offer. My guess is that you have the job! Hope you enjoy Grande Prairie, and Welcome to Alberta!!!

Excuse the late post, but I live in Sexsmith (10 minutes north of GP) and both dh and I commute every day. Sexsmith used to be quite a bit cheaper to live/buy a home, but not so much anymore. Anyone who has any ?'s, I would love to help.
It is true, Dr. Molnar retired about 2 years ago. Dr. Muir has a new partner (can't remember his name, starts with a B) and they are the only 2 OB/GYN's for the whole area. Because of this, they ONLY take extreme cases, and they won't even consider seeing a pregnancy until the 3rd tri, unless it is again, an extreme case. Dr. Muir delivered my dd, but I only started seeing him at 28 weeks.
Please contact me if you want to know anything about GP.

God does not call the qualified. He qualifies the called.
Well ladies, it looks as though we are probably moving back. Do any of you know who's looking for people? I mean, everyone is looking right now, but something for my DH. Anyone starting at at least $18? TIA
