Default anyone had this happen on met?

i just started met 500mg once a day for 1 week than 2 times a day for another week then 3 a day. well i have been on it for 4 days now and have the upset stomach but also i feel very tired and sleep alot more now. but those are the only side effects i have. i feel like i could sleep all day and i did yesterday like 14 hours. will this get better or should i talk to the doc if it doesn't in a week?

Those are both very, very common side effects of Metformin.
Take a look at the Metformin forum, there's lots of great info there.

I would share your concerns with the doctor if you aren't happy about it, but I had the upset stomach for a month or so and took the metformin in stages just as you did, exactly in fact. The tiredness is a part of it I think. I'm not sure though. I would just ask your doctor if you are worried, that is what they are there for. I have to fight tiredness myself...but it might be for a myriad of other reasons. Take time with the met...it does upset the stomach but I was told that some people have the ability to have it help them lose weight or the opposite...depending on who you are...so I count it as a benefit for the moment....but if it goes on for what you believe is too long for you to handle..see a doc...it couldn't hurt.

I stay completely calm and ignore my feelings and compromise and make everything work again. And I'm not going to do that anymore. Screw calm. Somebody else is going to have to do mature because I'm going to be selfish and get what I want.

I know they are very commons side effects as mentioned. Be sure you are eating enough protein while on it. I remember when I was on Met I could really feel side effects from it when I was not eating enough pretein.

Everything you mentioned is very common. Small, frequent mini-meals help. B-12 can also help with the tiredness. It does get better. It just takes awhile for you body to adjust.
