Default Anyone Have THE BIGGEST LOSER cookbook?

I was looking at cookbooks on amazon.com and "The Biggest Loser" cookbook got rave reviews. It looks pretty good:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/cus...nDate&n=283155

Just wondering if anyone has this book and if they have ever made any of the recipes and if it's any good.

Thanks!

Kathryn

Hi Kathryn

I don't have it, but I want to get it. I have the new biggest loser workout dvd and they have a couple of the recipes on the dvd and they look great. When I get it I will let you know how it is.

Happy New Year

Kat

I have both of the workout dvd's but have only used the first one so far. You can customize your own workout, so I think that I will end up using them a lot, and I think that you can customize with the second dvd too, all I have looked at on the second dvd is the recipe section. But if I remember right, you are a cyclist and must be in better shape than I, so I don't know that you will find them as challenging as I do.

What I should do right now is log off and do another BL workout.....

Have a great day - hope I answered your question.

Thank you. Yes, that gives me a better idea of what the DVD is like. That's really nice that you can customize your workout. I would probably look at the recipes first, on that second DVD, too! "D

Yes, I do love bicycling, but I am always on the lookout for alternative workouts that can work other areas of muscle that cycling might not cover, such as the arms.

Thanks again,
Kathryn

Hi, Kat!
Do you enjoy the first DVD? Have you heard about the cookbook? Just curious.

Not really. But I kept it. I've been known to revisit and fall in love with videos I hate at first.

My main problem was the music. It's kind of low, and off tempo.

I've got my video plan laid out for the next several months (Core Secrets Agility Ladder, Power 90 Masters, Barry's Bootamp)

I agree with Kat about the music being kind of off. I am a musician and it bugs me that they don't stay with the beat, but I think that I can work around it. For me it is a motivator to see the contestants from the show and know what they have acheived.

I tried the low impact aerobic section with the warm up and cool down today (2nd dvd) and tomorrow I will add the toning section. I like it, but I am starting up again after being off the wagon, so the low impact may not be a challenge for you. I have not been brave enough to even look at the boot camp or other sections. Tomorrow I will let you know what I think of the toning - that looked like you worked a little harder

I am going to try to find the cookbook later today and I can let you know about that too.

Kat - I think that the video rotation you are following right now would land me in the hospital Hopefully someday I can work up to it.

That Biggest Loser video is no walk in the park. If you can do that, you'll be ready for any of the ones I've mentioned. Trust me.

Kat -

I laughed when I read your last post, but I am so feeling yesterdays workout this morning. Especially in the glutes and hamstrings.....I'll stick with BL for now and then I will check some of the previous postings for additional workouts. I am still interested in Slim in 6, but would like to be a little lighter and in a bit better shape before I tackle that.

I got the BL cookbook last night, but had choir rehearsal (I am the director) so I didn't get much time to look at the book. However, I did see a Thai Ground Chicken salad that looks awesome!!! I think that it was a good purchase for me. More review to come.

Have a great day Kat & Kathryn

Once you finish Biggest Loser, skip Slim in 6 and get Slim Series. Slim in 6 will be too easy for you.

Ok - I just finished my workout from BL2 dvd and I did
warm up
low intensity cardio
power sculpt
cool down

It was quite a workout and these are the "easy" choices. So I think this will end up being a great workout for me.

Gotta go clean up - I am volunteering at school today and need to hurry.

More later

Default Alright, I have looked at the cookbook

There are a lot of recipes in the book that look really good. I think it is going to work very well for me. I can't have wheat because I am intolerant, and I don't think that there is wheat flour in more than a couple of the recipes. They use whole grain oat flour. There are some recipes that use whole wheat tortillas, bread, pasta or rolls, but I think I could easily work around that.

A lot of the recipes are 1 or 2 servings - and would be easy to increase if you wanted to. There are lots of recipes that I can't wait to try:

Better Blueberry pancakes
Kimmi and Bruce's chicken lettuce wraps
Wylie's Turkey Goulash
Pork and Black-Bean Verde Stew
Mo's Spinach Ricotta Bake
Fresh and Colorful Jicama Slaw
Thai Ground-Chicken Salad
Competitor's Chicken Curry
Pan-"Fried" Jerk Salmon with Tangy Apricot Sauce - and I have never had salmon

One of my big problems is I don't eat enough veggies and this book is giving me lots of ideas about how to eat them.

I do think that this was a good purchase.

HTH
