Question Anyone have a clue......

Hi gals!

I haven't been around much lately & this should probably go in the TTC board, but as they measure the levels in different units in the US, I thought I would ask here first, Hope no one minds!

Basically, I got my day 27 progesterone results today & it was 29.5. My gyno is off work unitl 6 January, as she had an operation two weeks ago & all her secretary would tell me is that "we expect to see 30 to confirm ovulation".

So, does this mean I didn't ovulate, I ovulated later than I thought or what????????

I could really use some help here, if anyone has a clue!

Thanks in advance,
Kirstie

Hi Kirstie,
I don't know anything about what levels the progesterone is supposed to be, but I know from what I have read that they should test progesterone levels 7 days after ovulation, to confirm if you have ovulated or not. i.e if you ovulated on day 16 of your cycle then the progesterone is tested on day 23. Have you been charting your temp, or using an OPK?
If you do a search on ovulation and progesterone levels is yahoo or google, hopefully you should be able to find some answers.
Sorry if it wasn't much help.
Good luck.

HI there & thanks for you reply.

I don't chart my temp, because I get up at different times each day, depending on what shift I am doing at work & so get very erractic readings & when I tried OPK's before I got a posatitive every day - I also found both too stressful!

I do monitor my cm & position though & have noticed ewcm at around day 17, 18, 19 for the last three cycles & this last cycle on those days, my cervix was much softer, although I am not sure about lower or open as it is tilted. Having said that, at the very start of each cycle, I usually can't reach it at all, so it must be lower!

I guess I will have to wait until Monday when I see my GP to discuss the results of all the other tests I had at the begining of last month.

Its just frustrating to get such scanty information when they news I have been given is the best I have had in over four years!!!

Thanks again,
Kirstie

From my experience, 29.5 would show a normal ovulation if you had just one follie.

My last prog. result was 26 and I had one follie which was triggered with HCG and ov. was confirmed by u/s afterwards.

I've had prog. results with ov. confirmed by u/s ranging from in the 20's to my highest of 120ish (multiple follies there).

HTH
